In my workplace, management replaced leadership and respect has been ditched for lower standards. And as you can imagine, the team performance dips down alongside. Leadership nurture respect. It is beyond me that corporations do not work at improving leadership qualities (leading by example instead of paranoiac control of others, sharing know-how instead of practicing job protectionism,...). This is I guess the mark of a relativist society where trust and empathy are not foundations anymore. I work to enforce the good old way of leading by means of virtue and genuine team coaching. Tell the truth, or at least don't lie as Jordan Peterson captured!
