Ramblings of a fried brain
A few days ago I started working on an article for posting. I was interrupted and like any writer will attest, it can sometimes be difficult to get your train of thought back on track. And while I have added a paragraph or two the following days, it still wasn't coming together as I wanted. So for now, a blank page sounds more promising.
It isn't helping that at this very moment I am yawning. As in non-stop for the past 15 or so minutes. There it is again... Yawwwwn!
Let's see if MKTO's "Classic" and Walk The Moon's "Shut Up And Dance" can help drive away the yawning. Yup! Yup! It's working... Hmmm, so it means I need to be moving more to drive the lethargy away. Dancing is moving, right?
There's been a lot of work the past week, and it's keeping me glued to my seat and in front of the PC. Still... not an excuse. The heat isn't very encouraging either. Imagine sweating buckets just standing up...
It is #summer. And the nights can be muggy. I've woken up in the middle of the night because despite the fan blowing in my face I'd feel my back wet. Very uncomfortable. So, I am grateful each time I sleep through the night uninterrupted. Humid is not my favorite.
Was doing a bit of laundry earlier and in the middle of it, I felt this cool breeze for a few seconds. It was bliss. See? I'm quite easy to please.
Saturday was horrid! It was gray but sizzling. Then it drizzled a bit. The heat didn't dissipate but just got worse. It finally rained, as in a good downpour, and you could literally feel the heat escaping from the ground.
It's blurry if the temperature cooled later in the evening. The heat must be frying my brains slowly.
I have to hand it to the thousands and thousands who attended Sunday's Pink rally. They stood and endured the heat... for hours. But hey, there was free food and drinks just to make sure no one went hungry or thirsty. And that was surprising. Don't recall any rallies in the past that provided those.
Then again people are stoked to be heard, and to make a stand and being out there with the rest of humanity must be energizing. Even Arianna Grande's mind was blown away by the sight that had gone viral. It was a sea of pink!
It's heartening to see people come together this way. Now, let's translate all the warm bodies that gather in these rallies to votes come May. We really need to be inspired. And we need to know we're not alone. A collective. That's right, a collective.
But having covered rallies in the past, I've never felt goosebumps then. The mass of people, who're behaved, respectful, compassionate, and just willing to lend a hand and share. That is heart-wrenching. Something that stirs pride in being a Filipino again.
That is what we have lost. That sense of pride for country and respect for fellow human beings. And it was painful. And maddening.
Okay, there still is a lot of discord. Acrimony. Hate. And frustration. So I continue to pray for my fellow Filipinos to be granted wisdom and discernment. We need to choose right, if we want this country back on track.
We need a #servant leader worth emulating. And we need to do our share, however small, to make things better. But we need someone who will inspire and set an example. And especially one that knows how to work, and actually does work, and not just passes every task to minions.
#Presence is importance. But it must be meaningful presence. And presence when and where it matters. As citizens, our presence on May 9 matters. Let's make that presence count as well.

Now playing MKTO in the background. Upbeat music kinda cools down the heat a bit .. i think...
Were you there too? the rallies? I don't think the hate and other things will die down ever but I pray we get to manage it and push it towards a working unity. I doubt there is any country at all that hundred per cent agrees with their leaders anyway.
Maybe just maybe it will be the Pink's chance to see what the 6 years is really like on the seat.
