Is there anybody here who ever happened to visit Sagada Cave or Wang-od,the great tattoo artist of Buscalan, Kalinga?Surely,you have stopped over Bontoc before going to your destination.What was your first impression of the place.?In this article I would like to show you what the place can offer in terms of nice sceneries and attractions.Perhaps you might add it on your bucket list of travel after this pandemic is over.
Talking about the pandemic,we are at zero to low risk of the virus,thanks to the government who's doing its best in protecting it's people.It had caused students,employees and other adventure seekers to take a walk around mountains and clear their minds out from anxiety this pandemic is causing..

So here we go.The place is called Bontoc,the capital town of Mountain Province.A 10-hour ride from Manila by bus.It is a busy little town as it is the center for commercial businesses and education;it has a big college where students from other municipalities and provinces attend.
Let's take a glimpse first around town before taking a walk,trek or riding those giant jeepneys to the neighboring barangays..
The Bontoc Museum,in Poblacion.It contains old things of farming tools,cultural and pre-colonial artifacts.While the outdoor consists of old housing models and other household materials like the mortar and pestle.
Kadchog Rice Terraces..You can spot this easily after asking someone its location.You can walk or ferry a tricycle,the town's main way of transportation to take you there.
Mount Chata.It is called the "Playground of the Gods".You will have the spectacular view of downtown.A place also for sea of clouds
Mount Pokis.A two-hour walk to reach from downtown.It is a beautiful place to witness the sunrise and sea of clouds, the lone lightning- struck tree trunk adds to its magnificence.
Kaman Otek or Blue soil.situated at the boundary of Bontoc and Sagada.An amazing place w/ its incredible blue soil covering the mountain sides and pine trees growing over it.
Kaman Baneng or Marlboro Country Mountain..
Kaipitan Mountain or Echo Valley.Still a boundary between Bontoc and Sagada.A limestone cliff.
Going up from town you can ride a jeepney going to Maligcong or walk,if the urge to see the stunning rice terraces of the place is irresistible.The best time to visit is after the planting season wherein you will be taken by awe of it's grand lush rice paddies and when rice crops are turning gold.One will have the stunning view after climbing Mount Kupapey.
Dalican Lake..
Mainit hot spring.If you're looking for a place to beat the cold specially during cold weathers,this is a perfect place for you.There are hotspring resorts built for you to swim in.Hot springs of water is everywhere the place even on pathways and outside houses.
Bayyo Rice Terraces..Like the other's it has also its own beauty..When coming to and from Banaue Rice Terraces,you will have a view of this place just down the road.
A wanderer's soul is never satisfied until he reach the place.
