Today it's one of my wolfhounds her birthday. Three years old she is. Out of all of them, she is the sweetest. Actually, I should say the easiest most doglike of all of them. She can keep herself busy, is very inventive which means this plus the fact she can bark and is jealous are negative aspects of her.
Generally speaking, you would hardly notice her. The noticing starts if she barks. For sure she doesn't do it without a reason but one of our reasons for taking these "dogs" is they cannot bark. Most likely something went wrong and the breeder did use a parent that was different. Her feet are very small as well and it always made me wonder what or I should say who caused it. Most likely one of the ancestors. An ancestor that most likely is only 2 or 3 years older than she is.
As a single dog, she would make a great pet. In combination with her daughter, she is a mean one, a mother who can not stand her child. From the moment on her pups were about 3 weeks old it was clear she didn't like her daughter but was fond of her son. It's bad luck for her because her daughter keeps looking for her no matter how bad mom treats her. At times I feel pity for the daughter who shares partly the same name as her mother but we call Rin.
Should I feel pity for a dog who's nearly asking for being beaten up? I assume mother sees her as a threat or she simply doesn't like her.
There wasn't much to celebrate today because of a huge hole made in the fence which I needed to fix first. It took me some time and while I sat and partly laid in the dirt my eldest wolf paid me a visit several times. I thought he didn't do it but I started thinking he did as he kept bumping into me and gave his quick kisses. Kisses he usually gives if he suffers from a bad conscious or he knows I am angry. It doesn't matter who I am angry with he is the one who makes up, takes care of the good mood, and keeps the pack together. Not one of the others care but he does.
One of the other males will lose his ear due to the stable flies. I hope he will survive. He's only 5 years old. More reason for sadness.
Still, I gave each of them a bone because it gives them something to do while they stay on a chain till the problems are solved.
By now all wolf hounds their ears are wounded. Why one suffers that badly I don't know. Perhaps he harmed himself more due to irritation or pain.
