The coronavirus is a great excuse. An excuse for everything. This includes throwing stones at people, setting cars at the fire, kicking and stabbing people to death. "It's provoking behavior caused by boredom", a police officer said about the flood of violence that came over the Netherlands. "Not great but understandable", someone living in a certain city remarked, "those kids are all at home and bored".
Not everyone agrees with this statement. For your information, the Netherlands has no lockdown and you can go out even travel. Might be some people are bored but boredom is not something kids, the youth only suffers from but they are the ones molesting whole neighborhoods, throwing firework bombs and worse. They organize meetings to molest people with the help of social media. No Facebook or Twitter fights this. Suddenly social media does not care.
The violence and aggression increased but can the coronavirus be blamed?
I have strong doubts about it. It's the next excuse for certain youth. A youth living in a certain area of certain capital cities in the country. Young people who always been bored because they skipped school, never learned how to read and write, never been raised in a proper way. Their only norm and value are "I do what I like and take what I want". Already long before the pandemic this youth terrorized their neighborhood, threatened people, robbed, stabbed, raped, and stoned them to death. They have parents who don't care, never kicked their arse, or showed them how it is if something they worked and saved hard for is set at the fire!
It's a part of a certain youth that only shouts believe they have all the right to demand, and spits on the people who provide them in their comfortable life. The rest of the youth and people in the country behave. It's not that they are never bored, they all live a luxury life and are celebrating their vacation abroad. They just do not live in a certain city, in a certain area of this city where many live and get everything for free which includes the freedom to molest and kill.
Yah, I think protests that lead to aggression, violence and looting, most times, if not all, use excuses of any kind, it could be the virus, it could be because they so-called right, or of a cause that they believe in but in essence, they are just taking advantage of the situation and cause disruption, worse is when lives are hurt and things destroyed. It could have been a peaceful protest but like you mentioned, so many factors involved which includes upbringing. Boredom could be a reason or they have no job and no money and nobody cares.
