If your mind tricks you

It's all in your head. True or not? It is true. No matter how you put it, how you see the world, respond, each action is directed by what is in your head. The brain, your brain. It's your personal hard disk. Everything you saw, read, did, and thought is stored. The biggest part of it you might have forgotten but it's there. You might say you forgot, you might not be able to remember what you did or when you did it but your brain does. It remembers everything even those things you do not remember at this present moment, those small details you can not describe or the face of the person you once loved or who harmed you. It's all stored and the fact you are not able to "find" it doesn't mean the memory is lost.

Saying you forgot, no longer want to think about it doesn't mean your brain forgets. The only way to wipe something out for good is to damage the hard disk, parts of the brain. How that works electroshock therapy shows you. Killing a part of the brain or change it into a porridge is one of those methods making people forget. To forget and change the way they act. If it works? To some, it might be but many changed into a "plant" not able to think, talk, act. All freedom is taken away from them. Not because they were confused or depressed but because society, or one single person, saw them as a threat. A threat for their "good" reputation, their property (stolen from...) or plans to change society, the world.

Those with a different opinion, point of view, a voice are a threat. If you saw the film "One flew over the Cuckoo's nest" you know what is meant. A perfectly healthy man with a different view at life, good to those in need, is killed by one single nurse because she did not like him. To her he was just another clown, a person interfering in her life, damaging her reputation and therefore a threat. To her life was not about 'joking around', having fun.

The brain... It is still a miracle to the scientist. They know which parts are used for thinking, acting, moving but at the same time it turns out it's not as black and white as they state. We do not use the biggest part of our brain. People with hydrocephalus proved it. Not much brain can be found if we look inside of their head but they can walk, see, act, some are great in maths and chess and those who should never be able to see, walk and talk do it. We can call this a miracle or ask ourselves if just one piece of the brain can do the trick since all life starts with the same cells and these cells develop, get more specific, in a later stage. If this happens at an early stage why not in a later one in one's life? What makes us believe if the right hand is lost we cannot teach the left hand to do the same? The right hand didn't learn how to write overnight. It's a habit, our fixed ideas that make us believe something different, taking a different road leads to nowhere. It doesn't matter how many people proved this is not the case we stuck to the old fashioned ways and it's hard to change what we are used to. I say used to because that is what it is. Used to doesn't mean it's good for you or the best you can get.

Those feelings of sadness, loneliness, being shut out of the society, depression and anxiety are there for a reason. It's our brain warning us. If and how we act, are willing to take them seriously does not only depend on how we are raised, teaches but our DNA and hormones as well. What's in our head is a direct result of all the information we received and how we processed it. Unfortunately, there is no application we can use to clean up the bits of negative information in our brain. Only awareness, admitting things went wrong, you are harmed and by making this knowledge a part of you, can help you to improve your well being. The brain can play tricks with you and sharing with others might be a good start of accepting who you are, creating something new. The best stories, paintings, inventions, songs, etc were made by those who dared to be different. With that, they made a difference.

Can we evaluate in a better being, the next version, update without faults of ourselves? Most likely not. The human brain hardly changed from the moment human sapiens exists. What changed are the rules we live by, the norms, values and ideas about life. How we should look like, act, be to be that valuable, successful member, accepted by family and society. If we can let go of those demands a happier life awaits us.

Keep in mind that It's also our unconscious that rules together with DNA and hormones or... a lack of hormones. Hormones do influence our mood, activity level and command our brain to act, stay alert and defend ourself.

Our mind... It's not only filled with positive thoughts, hopes, dreams but worries and fears as well. It's great to have positive thoughts but it's not said the negative ones should be ignored, banned, killed with help of medication or electroshock therapy. Awareness of what is going on is asked. Good or bad, both are needed for a reason which is to trigger your brain and with that provoking you. It's promising to realize life is filled with chances, there are challenges, fair and horrible times and each one of them can activate your creativity, help you to find your way, the right people, and the solution you are looking for.

It's a mistake to believe each dream has to come true. If that would be the case a dull, joyless life without dreams is what lies ahead. Imagine what your life would look like if you fulfilled every dream at the age of thirty years old and you have sixty more years to live...
