As Fidelo arrived the once so empty street was crowded. They all came to see the fire brigade at work and most likely to enjoy someone else's misery.
"What happened?"
"The land is burning!"
The young officer had left his car as soon as he spotted his chief.
"How's that possible?"
"I can't tell. From one moment to next those flames touched the sky. Hard to believe this is a coincidence."
"We better see how they are."
"If you ask me they are fine. The gardeners left over one hour ago and so did the decorators."
Outside she stood watching the flames eating the half finished garden from a distance. Although it happened fast it hadn't take her long to grab her phone and laptop and leave the house.
"Officer?"
She sounded surprised to see him again. He looked serious.
"The house is safe. I spoke to the firefighters but I have a bad feeling about this. Jim disappeared and the garden... The press arrived we better go inside if you don't mind and discuss our next steps.
She nodded.
"You stay here. Ask for assistance Ben and keep an eye on these people. Observe them, make photos if you can. Fingers crossed the one who caused it is present, enjoys, and watches the result. Where the hell did all those people hide?"
"And the press?"
"There's no need to tell them what we don't know. Let them make their own story."
