Dumb
"What are you doing to create space in your day to live?"
"Not much really. Each one of my days is basically the same."
"That must be boring. You should better take care of your needs."
"What needs?"
"Live is more than work Elsa you are old enough to understand that."
"I love my work what's wrong with that?"
"I am just saying.."
"My dear let's finish this job like promised." Elsa continued painting the last wall of the bedroom while Ria cleaned the door, windows and wrote down what was needed to brighten up the place. Ria was twice as old as she was and it was questionable if she was the right person to do the job. She had started her own business decorating houses and could use a second hand but Ria...
"We are about 6 minutes away!" Katherine said
"Sorry dear, but we haven't finished work yet. I am painting the last wall and after that, I clean up. The walls need to dry for at least two hours."
"I can wait, no worries."
It took Katherine a bit longer as expected to arrive but since there was no hurry she parked the van in front of the house and went for a walk. The area was new to her and she loved spending some time alone. Although it was a lovely day there was hardly any traffic and all houses seemed to be abandoned.
"What a strange neighborhood this is", she mumbled, " beautiful villas, great gardens but not a living soul around enjoying it. Where are all those people?"
It was a terrifying sight to see the man stretched out on the kitchen floor but she had no other choice. She knew he didn't believe her but no matter what he thought she had spoken the truth. How come no one ever took her seriously? She sank down on her chair and poured herself another cup of tea.
"I need some time to think. What to do next?"
After she finished her tea she knew what to do. It couldn't be that hard and it was the best place she could think of. She grabbed his ankles and dragged him away from the door.
"Better tie him up you never know what next he is up to."
Once back in the hallway she opened the door to the cellar.
There was no need to switch the light on since there was no light and nothing to see. It was cool and empty a good place to store something. She grabbed the stairs and pulled them up, out of the cellar. She never understood why this type of stairs was used but it was convenient now.
"Goodbye, Jim it was nice to meet you, good we had that chat."
She pushed the man into the darkness and closed the door.
"Let's have another tea and some biscuits before I find a new place for those stairs."
