"Are you a dietician or doctor?"

I asked the question because I read something and that something rang some bells with you. The answer was "no I am not and if you don't, believe me, you can ask any and will know what I wrote is true."
The article is about potato chips. Potato chips that are fed in high amounts to children and the reason for causing high blood pressure, overweight, diabetics and...cancer. To me, it is a hard story to believe. Potato chips might add weight but it alone doesn't cause diabetics. You need more to turn into a diabetic.
DNA plays a role but so does gaining weight and getting older. If it comes to diabetics overweighted people are those first in line and many of them do not eat potato chips. The thing is elderly people have a hard time eating, chewing, swallowing these crispy things. Same if it comes to nuts. It irritates the throat and it makes you cough. Still, elderly people suffer from diabetics and many are overweight. Far to overweight. It is because they eat too much. They do not have big bones but eat way more than their body needs. Once older you slow down, your digestion slows down, the hormones change and you can do with 50% less food.

Another issue is the food change.
Pure, healthy food like mother nature made it hardly exists. We eat chemicals mainly and we swallow them with plastic. The plastic is everywhere not only wrapped around the cucumber but it is in the air, the water we drink, the plastic bottles and beers, the cups and plates, the fast food, and all those handy packages to fix a meal in an easy way. Handy for little children, busy wives, singles, students, and elderly people. Those chemicals, the plastic, the fast-food it's all good for gaining weight easily with only 5 tablespoons of food you eat and you still feel hungry!
But this is the food that makes you gain weight together with all those carbohydrates. The amount of carbohydrates is even higher in *Light* products than in normal food. It's not fat that makes you gain but the increasing intake of carbohydrates, carbohydrates you find in not candies, cookies, ice cream, and pie only but in everything that is produced out of wheat, rice, and potatoes!
It's true these days many get fat by "just a cup of coffee" and 1 slice of bread. Why? Because they forgot what they are through the day and not eating for 16 hours seems to be a hard thing to do these days. Try it and write down what you really eat. Check your habits, how much time it takes you to swallow down your hot meal.

The number of people suffering from diabetics is not caused by giving children potato chips. Especially not if you stick to the advised portion plus it is something you can easily make yourself. Children get fat because they eat too much and parents don't care. Some of them even think it is cool or a sign of wealth even if the child can hardly breathe and is bullied and they are slim themselves.
Like we say here "every pound goes in by the mouth!" With slow digestion, this means you have to take more care of what you eat. If you can only eat 7 carbohydrates a day like me it's clear you and your health get in trouble if you eat more.

To those who like to know why I asked this question.
I asked because I read the text. I know most do not and that's why no one noticed it but I did.
This was what the author wrote "**I always tell patients not to eat baby chips.**
She always tells patients...
If you read a line like this, what would you think? Her reply made clear she has no patients, the article is based on what she read. It might be EXC here but to me, it's clear she used someone else's words, not her own. As a moderator, I can not accept that.

Those chips in the header? They are bought about 2.5 months ago for my youngest's birthday coming up.

I make my own chips 😂 the ones in the stores have too much sodium in them. Anyways, diabetes is an accumulative and genetic disease. It doesn't matter if you eat chips or not. If you have it in your blood line, you're bound to have it eventually. Doesn't matter what you eat. You can still minimize the probability of getting it but potato chips don't look like they'll pose a mojor threat unless it's all you eat

I like chips of any kind but I try to take them moderately. Not too much. But to say that it causes diabetes, that is an overkill statement. Great that you caught it. Drinking Coke everyday can cause diabetes. One of my colleagues did that and he was diagnosed with it after a year of drinking.

Well, she was wrong for saying that consuming potato chips makes one fat. Like you said, it's other things too like eating too much. Plus the fact that most foods are high in carbohydrates.

There was an elderly lady in the village I grew up. She only had potato chips for a meal. As a child I thought it was weird but later I thought "Why not". It's just potatoes, sunflower oil and salt or pepper". She was very slim and healthy.

Is it a chip that we call junk foods in plastic? or the potato chips sliced and cook by own?

The article is about chips bought. The author who "wrote" it stated it causes diabetics, makes children fat. No food makes anyone fat only the amounts we eat do.

I see, how come she have that conclusion. People get fat because of eating habits without control, not by certain food, agree with you on that.

She said her text was based on what she read. I find this a dangerous conclusion against potato chips. It's like stating all children who eat potato chips will get fat and get diabetics, especially if it runs in the family.

If she uses some certain brands of potato chips she can be sued by spreading some fake statements.
