A little bit about

that test

I could tell you about how we visited the doctor's office. This was the biggest joke ever but hey, I learned something.

The youngest stayed home for ten -day because school sent the bus-kid home. Ten days of quarantine are no punishment for children who travel far to get to school. Children who arrive home late.

The assistant talked with my child and said she couldn't just give a paper why she skipped school for so many days. The child needed to be tested first!

Kind of strange since the other assistant told us a different story.

Thirty minutes later the assistant arrived at the back of the building. She was suddenly dressed like an astronaut. Her mood was 180°C better though. This moody lady loves to stir with sticks into noses I can tell you that.

Nothing wrong with us but a couple with three snotty children lined up. Poor kids. Not one of them had to visit school yet so why test them? Three out of three crying for pain.

My youngest her test was negative and if we heard it right those of the snotty, crying, molested kids too.

We had to walk back to the entry of the building and wait in the waiting room for that excuse note from the doctor.

We waited and waited and waited. The assistant took of her astronaut suit and suddenly didn't seem to care about nasty coughs (but I did and as a parent, I would keep my little ones home instead of dragging them outside in the freezing cold).

So this new family of coughers wasn't tested at all and like usually they helped us last of all although we were the first (let's say we get used to it, to racism I mean).

More blah blah of the assistant who was moody again (just told the child we could switch doctors so we all have the same one which can be handy for next time). We felt it was better not to argue and say: Tell us a little bit about that.

If you do some people will never stop talking and my youngest needed to catch a bus.

The doctor smiled, the assistant looked angry and we thanked both for their great help, the information and the paper with a smile on our faces.

"How come she's so angry," my child asked.

I think it's because being an assistant sucks and so does being a doctor who isn't allowed to heal and mainly does paperwork.

If you ask me today was the 'we-say-everyone-is-tested-negative-day'.

I felt pity for that assistant and wonder how many just like us wonder why she wears that suit, a face mask and shield. After 19 months she must be immune.

If she's injected she should feel safe.

She spoke with each one of us before and after the test in her own clothes without facemasks and no social distance.

The truth? I think she just keeps up appearances and knows she's just an actor. It is a role she plays in the worst play that was ever performed as if this theatre will save the planet.

Long story short: to get that note took us a week. A week and a test plus a drive to the capital city because the child missed the bus. No QR code and no more quarantine. Next time a child sniffs I drag it to the doctor and let it tested at once, quarantine or not. They do not inform each other anyway plus if it turns out later one of us is positive that quarantine will never end.

Did the assistant or the doctor listen? No, they don't. They do not even let you finish your question. They simply don't care.
