A sociopath is a person with a personality disorder. S/he can be charming has charisma plus only cares about him-/herself.
Sociopaths are antisocial, can't understand others' feelings, have a lack of empathy and can be aggressive and manipulative. They are not different from the psychopath and narcissist if it comes to the description and so does autism but a sociopath is the one with the antisocial personality disorder (ASPD).
A sociopath loves to blame others (just like the narcissist and many people do), it's someone without any conscious. By the way, 'sociopathy' is a non-diagnostic term.
It feels as if everyone is or knows a narcissist today. True or? If you search you will find different definitions of narcissism. The most known one is 'being overly self-involved' and 'a person that adores him-/herself'.
Being overly self-involved is what we call 'selfish' and being selfish is not allowed. We have to sacrifice ourselves from the age of being a toddler. We are forced to share, give away, not allowed to own anything, have our privacy, own thoughts and opinion.
For sure the narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) causes problems. Those with this disorder want to be noticed, admired and if not they can be nasty. Jealousy and being over-sensitive are symptoms of narcissism too and so is a lack of empathy. Reading this back it all sounds like a logical following up of a situation. One of not being noticed, appreciated, someone with low self-esteem. If that happens to a child it's hard to know how to behave, liked, how to ask for attention positively. It's true a narcissist is anti-social, shows antisocial behaviour but the narcissist is not the only one.
"A narcissist may angrily lash out at any criticism" I read but isn't that what most people do, lashing out if it comes to criticism? Topics like religion, politics, and soccer are a great example of it and what to think about 'jealousy' and 'being over-sensitive'?
If you read this far you might say you know people who fit into this description and of course, it isn't you. Someone else is the sociopath, psychopath, narcissist or machiavellian (a personality centred on cold and manipulative behaviour), that one and only person incapable of feeling guilt, remorse, or empathy for his/her actions and of course manipulative.
Just like the sociopath and narcissist, the psychopath and machiavellian have a personality disorder. A disorder characterized by antisocial behaviour, a lack of empathy and remorse, they are selfish, arrogant and can be very charming and like we know charisma works like a huge magnet on people.
If the development of the conscious stays behind with babies/toddlers or is not developed we talk about a psychopath. Although everyone knows what a psychopath is or seems to know one this disorder is very rare not even 1% of the world's population has it.
Dealing with someone with a (personality) disorder or being the victim is hard but can we blame someone with a disorder, a lack of empathy and conscious if it's proved the development of the consciousness stayed behind? If this is the case and the feeling of empathy doesn't exist, if they can simply not understand others' feelings isn't it normal to be selfish and what is selfish, really selfish exactly? How come a feeling like jealousy can take over and how can one without conscious act over-sensitive?
If it comes to over-sensitive or high-sensitive there isn't much difference. It's not said high-sensitive people can't be aggressive and most of them are not social either.
Psychopathy, Narcissism and Machiavellianism are called the 'Dark Triad'
