I warmly welcome you to my blog. If this is your first time of coming, I really appreciate your visit. 2022 is few days ahead and everyone is really excited to step into a brand new year. Some have already made their new year resolutions, which is fine anyway. As we look forward to the birth of 2022, I wish to share with you some leadership qualities we can learn from eagles. Whether you are leading your home, department, business, team or any other organized group, you might find these qualities endearing. Lets go straight into the first one:

1. Powerful Vision and Focus

Eagles are very well known for their strong eyesight. They can easily spot a prey many miles from the sky. Eagles are not only able to see prey from a very far distance, they also have the ability to focus on the prey and mount an attack. Eagles are rarely distracted by activities within the environment once an object has been judged as food. Also, eagles are not unfazed by the size of prey or its location. Because of its strong vision and ability to focus without distractions, eagles are usually efficient and hardly miss their target when hunting prey. Leaders can learn a lot from these priceless traits as we step into 2022.

The lesson

Strong vision is an important quality a true leader must posses. You must be able to see where you want to be from where you are. Because things do not always go as planned, a strong vision and the ability to stay focused will keep you from falling off the track. If you lead a team, your ability as a leader will largely rob off on your team. When team members see the strong, unwavering stance you take with regards to achieving set objectives, they are more likely going to flow with that energy and motivation.

When challenges come, staying focused would be a priceless asset. It prevents you from easily giving up or thinking of more comfortable options. So just like an eagle, a strong vision would help you to see beyond the obvious, to see success even before others knew it existed. Staying focused will help you concentrate on implementing your strategies and achieving set objectives no matter the challenges that may come your way.

2. Be Brave

Eagles are known to be very courageous especially when they are hunting prey. We often find them dragging rodents and fishes that are many times their body weight. Eagles are know to even hunt animals as large as goats off mountains. In order to successful hunt prey much larger than they are, eagles must be fearless and strong. This is a very important lesson for leaders as we approach 2022.

The lesson

As you hunt for success in 2022, be ready to face challenges that seem unsurmountable. They will come from places you never really thought about. It could be financial challenges, disappointments from people that are not what they appear to be, etc. Whatever the form or size of obvious challenges you will meet in 2022, do not fear and give up easily.

Challenges make you strong and push you to develop tactics and skills that are not there in the first place. Running away from challenges makes you easy target for discouragement. But when you stand strong with your face to the wind, you will overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Each challenge you overcome increases your ability to fight even bigger obstacles. Only a brave person - just like the eagle will do well in the face of indifference and apathy.

3. Selective Association

Eagles are known to be selective with the birds they fly with. In fact, eagles do not just avoid mixing with other birds, they select even other eagles they fly with. You will hardly see an eagle fly with a parrot or other birds. They simply do not belong in the same class. There is a lesson and a quality to be developed from this trait.

The lesson

To achieve your goals in 2022, you need to be sure of your inner circle. You do not want to move with people that are not ready to work hard or with friends that laugh at your dreams and goals. If you associate with the wrong crowd, they will kill off any dreams or motivations you have. A team should have the same belief, work with the same strategies and have plans that align. Many unsuccessful leaders often discover that they are simply in the wrong crowd. If there are dissenting voices in a team, this creates a weak link. In the same way, if your friends are people that do not see the vision you have and believe in it, you will hardly make it if you continue with them.

4. High Fliers

Soar like an eagle is a term many people are familiar with - and for good reasons. Eagles fly high in the sky where other birds can hardly attempt. They do so without exacting much energy in the process. The simply soar high often spreading their winds and riding the wind to unimaginable heights. Little wonder they rarely flock with other birds - because other birds cannot reach the high flight of an eagle. There is a great lesson here too.

The lesson

You need to be extra-ordinary. You must be above average. There is competition everywhere - in every sector of human endeavor. Soaring high and creating your own class will always involve going the extra mile. You have to do something special, you have to go beyond the ordinary. The amount of effort needed to soar high is really huge, but you can do it. Not many people are ready to push the limits, so expect to be a bit lonely in the extra mile. When you do set a high standard, you stand head and shoulders taller than everyone, and that is where true, successful leaders belong.

5. Rest and Rebuild

When eagles age, their body becomes weak and longer able to do all the things they use to do. In that situation, they have to break their beak and let their body grow a new one to extend their life. This is a painful process, but most eagles prefer that than dying a slow death. So eagles try to renew their body and have new energy to carry one. There is still a lesson here.

The lesson

Its natural to run out of steam, to get drained of mental and physical energies. The demands of being at the top can bring a huge toll on you. When that happens, remember that the eagle have a plans to recover from physical stress and the effects of aging. Have a great plan to retreat and recover. Take long, occasional breaks from your daily routine and demanding schedules. Rest, go on vacations and try to get involved in recreational activities. When you balance your hard-work with rest and recuperation, you will stay very long in the playing field and remain exceptional even when your peers are long forgotten.

Conclusion

Eagles know beautiful animals. They are usually unique in many ways. The lessons above can be very useful as a leader or aspiring leader. If you take these to heart, you will achieve greater things as we step into 2022. I wish you all the best in your endeavors.
