Calligraphy is a decorative handwriting or handwritten lettering as what the Oxford dictionary describes it. It is still a trend, and it is one of the few things that never goes out of the way. People who have the passion and determination to do this are exceptional, as for me. Every stroke, the ups, and downs of the brushes makes up the amazing piece. If you are wondering if only writers or artists can do this, I would say yes. Yes, because I consider everyone an artist. It showcases one’s creative ideas. Before it went to be a talk-of-the-town, there were people who were already doing calligraphy. Some people were into presenting it to people around them, while some of them just kept it to themselves. Also, in order to combat a writer’s block, writers sometimes put their time to it.

Calligraphy is always in use, never goes out of style. Learning calligraphy comes in many ways. There are online courses available. Each class has varying fees, of course. Also, one may just search it online and lots of video tutorials from people who are good at it will come out. Basically, there is no reason to not be able to learn calligraphy. And since, everyone can learn this, in this article, I will tell you all the possible ways to give your calligraphy talent a breakthrough. Whether you are just starting or an experienced one, this article will absolutely help you get ideas to level up your calligraphy talent.

1. Use calligraphy in designing envelopes.

Aside from hand lettering, another thing that is an example that nothing beats classics is writing letters, may it be for a special someone, for a friend, for a relative, for someone you miss, or even for someone you are praying to meet. Letters are still one of the best presents you could ever give to someone.  Or, in cases that you still have a pen pal, or someone so away from you, and only letters can connect you to him, if you are someone who loves sending letters on any occasion, then, using calligraphy lettering in envelopes, is really a good decision to make.

Calligraphy on envelopes made by you will add magic to the message of the letter. Imagine to send something you love doing to someone you love? It will absolutely make the other person happy. So, what are you waiting for? Thinking of anything to give this Christmass? I guess you now have an idea!

2. Turn your boring walls to an artwork.

Are you tired of looking at your boring walls, and just keep on imagining how it will look when it has designs, a mural, or whatnot? However, your budget is tight now, and all you can do is to dream about the wall art you really like. But, wait, not anymore! What’s amazing in being able to do something out of your own hands is that no payment is required, you will just need yourself, your wall, and your materials, then you are free to customize it in any design you like. Well, I am talking about your calligraphy talent? Why don’t you turn it into mural-like art?

Have you heard about the wire word art? Well, think about your favorite word, phrase, or sentence, something you’d like to read. Then, prepare some wires and pliers. Start creating your wire word art. Wire word art is basically a word art made of wires. Once you have the word, phrase or sentence with you, wires, and pliers, you may start to cut, bend, or twist the wire as if you are writing a calligraphy on paper. After you finish it, you may also cover the wires with colors you like. Put adhesives to it so it can stick it on the wall, or you may just hang it there. And now, you have an artwork on the wall!

3. Create calligraphed gift tags

There is nothing better in receiving a gift with a gift tag that is made with effort. Give your loved one a piece of your talent. You can start by doing it in a small square piece of paper, and have it pinned or taped in your gift. Give it to them any time of the year. It will eventually become your signature, a mark that they will always look out for in every gift they will receive.

Aside from all of these, in order to give your calligraphy talent a real breakthrough, here are the ways to earn money from it.

How to earn cash by using your calligraphy talent?

1. Create invitations

During occasions and celebrations, people need someone to help them out to craft invitations. And who would have thought that your calligraphy designs will suit their taste? You can post your designs on a website, on a blog, and even on your social media accounts, and have them find you. With calligraphy, it is more personal and really full of effort.

2. Make slogans and business logos

Today, calligraphy designs are not confined as a personal use, it extends even at the corporate level. Allow yourself to create samples on your own. Announce that you are open for clients who would like to try a different style of a logo. And since trying a different one makes them unique, businesses might be open to let you handle their image. Now, start to build a competitive portfolio, and let clients go to you.

3. Create tote bags with calligraphy

Almost everyone loves to use tote bags. These bags are handy and less hassle to use. With it as a lightweight, it is best to use for a quick hang out, for a shopping, or just for a sense of the person’s style and fashion. So, why don’t you try to incorporate your calligraphy designs in tote bags? You may start with a plain tote bag, then put your calligraphy design in there. Sell it, and make money from it!

4. Create stickers

People who love journaling are spending money to have stickers and have it pasted on their journals, an entry for the day. With this, you can start making one, and make money out of it. You may try to start with lines, words, or quotes. Something that would remind people about their day. And when it hits them, then they will eventually pay for it.

It is the time to add flavor in your calligraphy talent. Whether you want to try these for yourself or to earn money, I am sure this will help you in the long run. Imagine to be earning money by just doing the things you love, and not having to spend even a cent just because you can do it yourself.
