What are GR cases and CR cases? In the case of cognizable offenses, all the cases which are recorded in the statement book and recorded in the GR register are called GR cases. GR cases are cases of cognizable offenses. Courts take cases under Sections 106, 106, 109, 110, 133, 144 and 145 of the Criminal Procedure Code to prevent disputes over land acquisition or for public good conduct as a precautionary measure against crime. Such a case filed in the court is called a grievance case or CR case (Miss Case). All these cases are included in the Miss Case Register.

What is a summons? What are the methods of issuing summons?

A summons is a summons signed and sealed by the Presiding Officer of the court or the High Court issued to the plaintiff or witness to appear in court. The methods of issuing summons are as follows-
1. The person on whom the summons will be issued must sign one copy of the summons and acknowledge receipt in another copy.
2. If a summons is to be issued to more than one person, the signature of each person must be taken on the office copy.
3. If it is necessary to issue a summons to a company or an organization, then the owner of that company has to hand over one copy of the summons to the manager and accept the receipt in the second copy.
4. If the person on whom the summons is to be issued is not present, then a copy of the summons must be handed over to any self-reliant male person of that person's house and a signature of receipt must be obtained.
5. If the summons cannot be issued as described above, the summons must be issued by hanging in the presence of two or three persons (who are neighbors) as witnesses in the public place of his house or in the public place of residence.

. If the person on whom the summons is to be issued is a government employee, then 2 copies of the summons should be sent to the head of his office. The person on whom the summons will be issued will be sent to the concerned court with one copy acknowledging receipt of the second copy.
. If the person on whom the summons is to be issued is not within the jurisdiction of the said court, then the summons should be issued by sending it to the court within which the person is within the jurisdiction of that court.
