Wiping the Slate Clean: The State of Corruption in the Philippines

Corruption has become a significant wellspring of public disappointment and distrust with the local and national governments. When chosen officials take money from people of firms working with or controlled by the city, the expenses of government rise, guidelines go unenforced, and general well-being or security might be jeopardized. Corruption, in a general view, decimates the accountability of employees to their supervisors and of officials to the citizens they speak and serve to.

Corruption can be as basic as a 100 pesos installment to dodge a speeding ticket or to "facilitate" a structured grant, or it very well may be as mind-boggling as plans to swindle government assistance programs and tolerate composed wrongdoing. Corruption may include a single "spoiled apple" or a whole office or city chamber, a solitary result, or a continuous insurance organization. It can emerge in basically any program or action led by government officials and sometimes, even its employees.

In spite of this multifaceted nature of debasement, challenging yet inexpensive ways can be taken to reduce and/or prevent corruption. As opposed to the popular and various solutions we have today in fighting the issue of defilement and recognizing the areas where debasement is most likely to happen. As a young lad who turns out to be chosen as a piece of the nearby government, my desire, like most of you, is to end the issue of defilement in the hope for a better and developed the Philippines. In this essay, I will be sharing with you three things that I have learned and seen in the initial two years of my administration.

To begin with, let’s talk about the family. Family is the fundamental unit of society. It is in the family where leaders are being framed, formed, and shaped. When you want to know the status of our society today, you don't need to go far or do comprehensive research, just look around and see the families around you, look beyond what your eyes can see. What sort of family does our nation have? What kind of future generation we are raising? The manner in which a child has raised talks so much about what future a youngster will have and what sort of individual will he be sometime in the future. It is in the early long stretches of a child where esteems, convictions, and character is shaped. On the off chance that we keep on disregarding this area of our society, then, we ought not to be surprised by the kind of future government leaders we are making. Because the problem of corruption basically starts the moment you see and tolerate a child taking a 5-peso coin in your coin satchel without asking permission and letting him go unpunished. That child could be the future president of this nation. May we always remember that fathers and mothers are the first teachers of our future generation in their initial lives. And so, we must do our part in nurturing and disciplining the young ones we have at home. As guardians, our words must always go hand in hand with our actions. Take a look at the life of Mayor Victor “Vico” Sotto, mayor of Pasig City, Philippines. As I study his life, peruse and tune in to his folks, particularly to his mother. I can just say that Mayor Vico, though he has everything, was brought up in an environment where discipline and character development are reliably present. I can't resist the urge to be astonished by the immense effect of Mayor Vico's administration in the City of Pasig.

Second, I might be asking for much if I state that the educational framework we right now have must be restructured and changed. Science and Technology are something to be thankful for and pursued and excellence is as yet our objective. Be that as it may, have we truly characterized excellence accurately? Throughout the years, what we have made inside the schools as well as universities are not educated people who want only rather the benefit of their adored nation yet beasts, who long for power and authority so they can do what they wish to do. The very individuals we appreciate in light of their scholastic accomplishments, listen, and put our trust and future to are the individuals who take our cash without our insight and keep on living a day as though they did not commit any form of corruption. The underlying cause of this contention is that the instructive framework we have, has zeros in much on the intellectual capacity of the youth and less on their comprehension of the history of our nation, the values, and the character development must and should possess. History classes are nothing more than just studying the past and remembering dates and significant events, students simply wish to dispense with. We neglect to teach them the things that genuinely matter the most. We neglect to over underline the significance of studying by heart. We have failed much. On the off chance that they learn by heart how much the previous generations have relinquished and bleed blood to make sure we can have the freedom we are now experiencing and how much a person’s character enormously impacts his future, then, we could start a legit chance. Because true greatness is not defined as successfully achieving things for one’s sake, rather, greatness is consistently seeking the highest good of every Filipino citizen.

Finally, may we always remember that at the end of every day regardless of how phenomenal and mentally skilled we are- we are all but human beings. Our hardships and excellence may have brought us to greater heights in life and we start to think highly of ourselves. That sometimes we would often forget that up there, there is Someone who knows-it-all. The beginning and the end. The source of everything we have. And the One who is able to give and take away everything we have in a snap of His fingers. He formed the very foundations of the earth, created and designed the very first institution, the family, and bestowed to us gifts and blessings which we could use in sustaining and nurturing what He has entrusted. Deviating from his original design of the family would mean great entropy. And corruption in the government is but one of the numerous consequences of our disobedience in declining to follow the original design of the family.

Taking everything into account, while it is true that corruption cannot be totally eliminated, since we live in an unperfect world, corruption can still be minimized and prevented. By zeroing in on the basic unit of our society not only on their basic but holistic needs, seeking others highest good by putting themselves before yourself, being intentional to the people within your reach, owing nothing to yourself but everything to God, and by unceasingly humbling ourselves before our Maker knowing He has our best interests in mind as an individual and as a nation, enable us all to minimize and prevent any conceivable form of corruption.

Two things: 1. I stopped voting. I will no longer assign my name to a politician who stabs the people in the back. By not voting, I do not have to take the responsibility of corruption committed by a politician and may live guilt free. The old mantra stating that every vote counts is passe.

  1. Second, we do not have an education system in the Philippines but rather an indoctrination system. Students regurgitate what their teachers and professors want, nothing more. Critical thinking is only applied to music, dancing and how to be a famous personality. The politicians and governments, along with the dismal education system, have failed the people. This is why we will be intellectually challenged and remain 3rd world, no matter how much infrastructure is improved.
