"The Shanghai Semcorp company, which produces separators for electric vehicle batteries, will build a HUF 65.5 billion plant in Debrecen," the Hungarian Foreign Minister said on Tuesday November 10.

According to Siyjarto, the Hungarian government will support the construction of a factory specializing in the production of insulating membranes for lithium batteries, which will create 440 jobs, with a grant of 13 billion forints.

He says the 100,000 m2 plant will be Semcorp's first facility outside of China.

The minister said that the Chinese manufacturer chose Hungary out of 3 other European countries claiming the location of the new factory.

As a result, the total volume of Chinese direct investments in this state will exceed USD 5 billion. Chinese-owned companies in Hungary employ more than 15,000 people.
