Hello.

I would like to start my article by congratulating everyone who has made sports a routine of life.

Today I will share what I know about pilates.

Pilates is an exercise system developed by Joseph Pilates. The benefits of Pilates are endless.

Pilates, the favorite form of exercise in recent years, has become synonymous with thin women and strong muscles. But the benefits of Pilates go far beyond simply strengthening the core mu

scles and providing flexibility to the body. In addition to the aesthetic benefits, you can reduce your back pain, improve your bone density, and increase your heart rate by practicing this whole-body exercise regularly. These amazing benefits pilates; a mix of effective training, regular strength and Cardio-fitness makes it an exercise routine

The popularity of Pilates continues to increase day by day.

If we talk about the benefits of pilates, which has a history of 100 years; In general, it increases the strength of the body, supports the goal of bodybuilding, provides balance and coordination, has a significant effect on posture disorder, increases flexibility, is good for back pain, activates deep stabilizers and ensures the integration of the mind with the body.

When you think of Pilates, the first thing that comes to mind is control! "Joseph Hubertus Pilates", the founder of Pilates, first defined the name of this system as "control". Because pilates movements made without control and concentration in pilates exercises lose their target and purpose. J.Pilates “It is better to do 5 reps perfectly than to carelessly do 20 reps.” expressed this opinion.

We aim to stabilize the area that remains motionless as the limbs move. For example; During the flexion (bending) of the abdominal exercises performed on the back, we must keep the hipbone and shoulder blades stable so that we can achieve the optimum form of the movement.

Pilates said, “Breath is the first and last activity of our lives. Our life depends on it.” sums it up in words.

During a pilates set, we need breathing to make movement easier or harder, to increase power, to increase oxygen transfer between tissues and to improve lung capacity.

Although it varies according to the exercise or the person, we generally use what we call horizontal costal breathing in pilates. That is, we send it to the sides of the ribs without inflating the abdomen while breathing. When we exhale, we imagine that the core area is a corset, narrow the corset and close the ribs inward, and exhale.

During the movement, the person's pelvis and lumbar (lumbar) spine are in a neutral position and breathing activates the core region and strengthens it.

One of the most frequently asked questions is: Does Pilates really make you lose weight?

Pilates is not a system for weight loss. But when it is supported with healthy nutrition and cardio, it will also help in weight loss. Because it will increase your muscle mass, you will lose weight from fat, not muscle, and you can have a slimmer and healthier body!

Pilates is a sport that is very liked by women, where the benefits of Pilates can relieve back pain and strengthen the heart muscle, but career women often forget about their body health, so the majority of career women experience back pain because they have never done Pilates.
