Zoom Video Communications has announced details of Zoom 5.0, a major update to its video conferencing client that addresses many of the security and privacy issues identified in recent weeks. In the upcoming release, users will benefit from the addition of AES 256-bit GCM encryption.
Zoom's security features can now be found by clicking on the security icon in the conference menu bar of the interface. For administrative accounts, account administrators can now define password complexity (such as length, alphanumeric, and special character requirements). In addition, Zoom administrators can now adjust the password length required to access voicemail.
In addition, Zoom 5.0 will provide new data structures for large enterprises, allowing them to link contacts across multiple accounts so people can easily and securely search and find meeting, chat and phone contacts. Administrators of business, enterprise and educational programs can see how their meetings are connected to the Zoom data center in the Zoom Dashboard.
