Rebirth: From Sales Assistant to Crypto Whale
Chapter 4: First Step Forward
Stephen sat on the floor together with his siblings. They exchanged talks about what they played during the day and sometimes laughter could be heard. At this moment, Stephen had already accepted the fact that he was truly reborn. So, he was a little calmer and more natural now.
He would naturally spend and cherish more time with them. He needs to make up for his shortcomings in the past. From time to time, he would sometimes tease her two younger sisters about their first loves using the knowledge of his past life. Then he would laugh hard at their stunned expressions.
Papa Steph watched this scene with amusement. The house has never been lively like this. Usually, at night, after playing and taking a short bath, they would sit in front of the TV with little interaction.
Unless they are watching an interesting movie. During advertisements, they would exchange their silly predictions on what would happen next.
Someone who did not know them would think they were veterans. They fight and throw words that will make you believe their predictions were right!
______________
The city streets in Iloilo City from 5-6 pm are usually very trafficked. From time to time, you can hear impatient car horns as it would sometimes take them a minute before they can move just five or ten meters.
This scene is very normal for day-to-day commuters. At this time, Mama Arlene is calmly sitting in the jeepney and relaxes her back in the soft, bouncy, and comfortable seats. Unperturbed by the loud noises in the background. Then slowly she starts to lose consciousness and fell asleep.
Thirty minutes later, when Mama Arlene felt that everyone around her was leaving, she opened her eyes to look at the surroundings. Moments later, she realized that she was already in their town.
She thought it was a little fast but she never knew that she had fallen asleep for a long time.
Walking out of the jeepney, she saw his husband waving and slowly walked towards him.
“Husband, why do you look a little happier today? Has something good happened?”
Looking at his wife with eyes full of love and happiness, he blinked and said, “Yes! I bet you won’t believe it! The kids today are more looking like siblings!”
Mama Arlene laughs, “Looks like we have to buy them some burgers.”
Buying burgers has usually been a tradition in the family every time the kids would achieve something and during her payday. Buy one take one burgers costs around twenty-three pesos so it is still affordable for them.
At home, laughter could still be heard.
When the couple pushed the door open, the first thing that greeted them was the giggling kids full of joy. Mama Arlene called, “Kids! I’m home!”
At this moment, Stephen turned around and saw his parents specifically his mother holding a plastic with a bright red logo of Franks Burger! He was the first to react, “Ma!”
He ran towards her mother and grabbed her bag and plastic with burgers. His sisters only reacted when he was waving at them the burgers. Like a hungry wolf, they pounced at him!
“Slow down kids! There is enough for everyone!” Papa Steph couldn’t help but exclaim and laugh.
“Alright, don’t eat the burgers yet! We still haven’t eaten dinner.” Mama Arlene added when she saw her youngest daughter Pearl taking a bite already.
When Stephen heard this, he quickly helped his father serve the food on the floor. In their small bamboo house, the living room also serves as their dining and bedroom.
At dinner, Stephen nervously looked at his mother. He looked like he wanted to say something. When Papa Steph noticed this, he looked at his wife and told her that their son wanted to set up a business.
“In the morning, we discussed his plans and I have to say that the idea is mind-blowing. He told me that if you could lend him money, he would be able to earn that money back in just a day. The returns are naturally high. In my opinion, we should support him.”
Mama Arlene gasps, “Alright, tell me more!” She also silently looked at her son who had his eyes full of gratitude at his father. She was curious now! She clearly remembered that there shouldn’t be any business with high returns especially with her son managing it.
Papa Steph started recalling what his son told him detail to detail, afraid that he might miss something. After all, the one who had the say in the family was his wife.
After telling everything he needs to say, he looks at his wife to see her expression. When he saw her wife’s eyes with doubt and excitement. He could not help but feel relieved. At least, he wasn’t alone.
Moments later, Mama Arlene finally reacted. She raised a brow and peered at her son before saying, “Alright I agree!”
Stephen was nervous and when his mom looked at him, he felt naked, it was as if he couldn’t hide something from her. He only relaxed a little when he heard her mom agree.
Forcing a smile, “Thanks Ma! Don’t worry, I will make you proud and return your money very soon.”
“Don’t bother, consider it as mom’s late birthday gift.” She replied casually.
Looking at his mom who did not bother, his heart warmed. He silently promised that he would not let her suffer in this life. He will also fulfill her mom’s dream of traveling abroad and buying all sorts of flowers for her collections. He clearly remembered that sometimes her mom would tell them that she found a beautiful flower today for sale but did not buy it because she still needed to save money for them.
The dinner continued with a lively conversation. Stephen is looking forward to tomorrow because finally, he will be able to make a first step on earning Bitcoin at the end of the year. Then, the rest will be smooth sailing for him.
He is so excited right now!
/// Author's Note: I am very sorry for the late update of Chapter 4, I have trouble writing the next scenes because I don't know how should I write them to perfectly express what is on my mind. Although I did, to me it wasn't still perfect. Anyway, I would also like to thank rusty and @sanctuary.the-one-law for the generous tip on the first chapter! I appreciate it!
I would also like to thank the Steemit team for reminding me to use Grammarly. So, if you are wondering why the chapter today looks a little better, that's because I have installed Grammarly. ///
