I want to tackle this topic because this is important. I am employed after I graduate in college but I admit I do not have enough savings right now.
As what I learned in college to my Finance teacher, after we received our salary we must set aside a portion of it like 10% or more for our savings then the rest will allocated for expenses. Most of us Filipinos, after receiving our salaries, we spent those amounts to our expenditures like house bills, groceries, personal items, foods, leisures and the remainder is set aside for savings. But how sure we are that there will be leftovers after spending those expenses?
Yes, like the story of the ants and it is also Biblical, they prepare foods during summer by helping each other then when rainy season comes, they have enough foods to eat. Savings is really important right now especially when tragedy comes like what we are experiencing with the pandemic now. People loss their jobs, some businesses closed, and others struggle for their health. Do we have enough food or savings in bank or even a piggy bank like a child does?
It is not too late my friend. Start to save now for your present and future.
The truth is that salary can't give you financial freedom.
