One quite often hears this remark: "THE POOR ARE LAZY". That is what one sees. This is the impression one who has more and better opportunities in life gets as he filters his judgement through his personal background. What one does not see is the empty stomach, the oppression the poor suffer from exploitatively low wages and the depressive and unhealthy environment to which poor go home day after day, year after year. Under such conditions a person will indeed have a tendency to be "lazy". Unless another sees the total situation and feels to some extent the dehumanizing condition of the poor, one cannot come up with an authentic social change for them. He can only see the top of the iceberg.
