Shopping Spree: Is Buying Online Better?

Some people would not take it seriously but shopping actually has health benefits. For a lot of people just like me, we go shopping with when we’re stressed in order to clear our minds or have something to look forward into. It also boosts or motivates me to become productive because I always reward myself after small progress.

With the high technology in the current generation. E-commerce continuously thrive and became easier and easier to be entered by many people. Nowadays, there are multiple shopping online platforms available in the market. It had a negative to the in-store businesses because many buyers opted to shop online because of many reasons.

The question is, is buying online better and how?

There are advantages and disadvantages of buying online and it is up to us, consumers, on what we think is more applicable to our situation, lifestyle, and schedule.

Some of the advantages of buying online are:

• The top reason is because of convenience. Going out and getting a transportation is time consuming for many people especially when we have lots of work and responsibilities. With online shopping, you can now buy whatever it is that you want to buy just by sitting on the corner or even before you sleep.

• It is also now easier to compare the prices with other shops. I used to do this before when shopping in-stores and it is actually hard to jump from one store to the other and it is quite embarrassing to the employees as well. But with online shopping, one click and we can now quickly assess their differences with regards to price.

• Most products that I buy online are cheaper that those sold at physical stores. It is maybe because of the smaller expenses incurred by the business. Selling online is also cost-efficient to their side.

• Another good reason is that you don’t have to mingle along in the crowd. That is somehow tiring when you see lots of people going around especially at peak seasons. With online shopping, there’s no need to fall in line in the counter as well.

• There’s also no more pressure on deciding whether to buy or not. I don’t if it is just me but sometimes I was pressured to buy something because the sales lady won’t stop following me or watching me and I think it is embarrassing if I just leave the item on the store when I actually asked a lot of things about it already.

• On the other side, let us also look into its disadvantages:

• There is a possibility of fraud or scams in online buying. Sometimes, online sellers are taking advantage to their customers and they don’t ship the right items.

• There might also be delays in shipments.

• Online shopping can immerse you into using your phone for too long because there are lots of products that you can see and you can’t stop looking into them.

• Some local businesses are given less support.

• It is sometimes hard to have inquiries because the seller is not responsive and the information are not sufficient.

Shopping is not bad as long as you now your limits and you know how to prioritize. Shopping online may be a lot better but if we can, we should also buy to our local businesses so that they can also thrive.
