Burdur, which was called Psidia in ancient times; It is a city that has been under the domination of the Turks since 1071. It was also stated that this city, which was first known as the center of the Hamitoğulları Principality, joined the Ottoman lands during the reign of Yıldırım Bayezid. In 1852, he had the chance to become a sanjak. Although its only district was Tefenni until 1926, it kept 10 districts within its borders over time. Apart from Tefenni, Yeşilova, Bucak, Gölhisar, Ağlasun, Karamanlı, Kemer, Altınyayla, Çavdır and Çeltikçi are also among its districts. The city of Burdur, which has a history dating back to the Greek period, also has a very interesting natural beauty. In this way, it can be seen as an important city in terms of tourism.

Burdur Geography

The altitude of Burdur province is defined as 100 meters. It includes Boncuk Mountains, Elmalı Mountain, Katrancık Mountain, Kuyucak Hill and Dedegöl Mountain. At the same time, there are some lakes belonging to the Lake District in this region. Burdur Lake and Acıgöl can be counted among them. Next to the borders of Burdur, there are Antalya, Denizli, Muğla, Afyon and Isparta.

It is stated that Burdur province is generally hilly. Approximately 61% of it is called mountainous. Since it is a city built on the extensions of the Western Taurus Mountains, it is quite rugged. Soil structure is also called as calcareous and clayey. However, being close to holiday spots is also among the reasons for preference.
