She was playing with the puppy when she noticed the small boy from next door, looking at her. He was smiling, hoping that she would ask him to join. She smiled back and forgetting what her parents had told her about not befriending the neighbors, she went ahead and called him over.
He came running and they both started talking excitedly. He told her that his name was John and she told that she was Sarah. That being over, they both discussed the game they would play rather than other formal things.
The puppy also joined them in the game and they both had fun. Soo, they were tired. She asked him to sit down and mind the puppy while she went to bring some snacks. She went inside and searched in the kitchen for fruits and biscuits. She arranged the biscuits on a plate and also placed two apples and a bottle of fresh juice and took it over to the garden where John was seated.
Seeing Sarah walking precariously, he went over and helped her. She was pleased and they both ate the snacks and also shared some with the puppy. John's mother had seen all this from her house next door and was happy. They were poor but she had raised her son to be well behaved. She went over to Sarah and told her that she was happy she made friends with John. Sarah too was happy and promised to play with John whenever she could. She wished her parents would not be prejudiced and went inside. Unknown to her, her father who worked from home had observed all this and he decided to talk to his wife about allowing Sarah to play with John. He could see that John and his parents were well behaved and would not be a bad influence at all.
