Michelin stars are finally arriving in Serbia.

Namely, Serbia has become a part of the prestigious Michelin gastronomic guide, and which restaurants in our country received this, the most prestigious culinary recognition, according to Tanjug's information, will be known in December.

The Michelin star is a kind of culinary "Oscar", the largest and most valuable recognition in the culinary world that restaurants receive with a prestigious offer and service. Restaurants can receive up to three stars for food quality based on five criteria: food quality, mastery of taste and cooking techniques, the personality of the chef in his kitchen, price-supply ratio, as well as consistency of quality, confirmed by Michelin inspectors.

Michelin inspectors visit restaurants around the world anonymously and evaluate only the quality of the food they serve, based on these five criteria. The stars do not depend on the interior, the decor of the table or the quality of the service of the restaurant, it is ranked separately, with a rating from 1 to five. All star winners are in the Michelin Guide, which recommends these restaurants, in over 30 countries on three continents. So far, more than 30 million publications have been sold.

Of the surrounding countries, only Croatia and Slovenia were in the Michelin guide - Croatia with seven restaurants with stars, and Slovenia with two.

Michelin stars were started by brothers Andre and Eduard Michelin, whose last name is also carried by the most famous tires in the world. To motivate people to travel and thus increase sales of cars and their tires, the Michelin brothers created a small guide in 1900 with useful information for travelers, such as maps, a list of car repair shops, gas stations, and a list of places to eat. or finds accommodation.

Among other things, the guide had anonymous ratings of European restaurants, and from 1926 he started awarding famous stars. The people who evaluate the food - Michelin inspectors, are permanently employed in the Michelin group, and most of them studied in the best catering schools in the world.

Miselin will never understand that in this area, 5 stars only deserve cafes with burnt and stained checkered tablecloths. But it’s part of our gourmet heritage and I love it more than anything else.

I often called my children "Miselinko" when they were babies because of the "folds" they have on their arms and legs when they start to round.

A really original nickname. They probably looked like the famous Miselin mascot.
