Do You Own Your Content?
We share different things on social media. We want to let others know what we are doing and what's going on in our life. You take pictures and make videos, and then upload that on Meta, YouTube, and other social media. Have you ever asked yourself how much control you have over the content that you share on Web 2.0?
Users do not own their content on Web 2.0. The company which is a centralized entity owns everything and controls what you can or cannot do. They can edit, delete or make any change. They can ban or put any restrictions on your account at any time.
You think whatever you do online is free and you have complete freedom. Later, you realize that's not the fact. Some tech giants have the ultimate control and they make trillions of dollars from user-generated content and data that users share for free.
You as an end-user cannot get the benefit, only some tech giants make fortunes from users’ data and content. Blockchain is making a huge change in the way everything happened so far. In web 3.0, users can get the ultimate benefits because it empowers users. The best thing is, you own your content. No one can edit or delete that from the blockchain.
Only you have the power to make a change to your content. As a content creator, you usually rely on ads to make money on Web 2.0. But you can directly monetize your content in Web 3.0. It is build-in on blockchain-based social media. It makes a big difference.
This is not a dream. Hive is living proof of that. If you are on Hive, you own your content, only you have the power to make any change to your content. No one holds the private keys except you. You are in control of your data and you decide what to do with your content.
When you make content and add value, people will support your content. The upvotes you receive on your post have financial benefits. You will earn HIVE and HBD. And it will directly transfer to your Hive Wallet. You can do a lot of things on Hive. If you explore Hive, you will be surprised to see what Hive offers and how it empowers end users.
Centralized social media has the most attention now. It is going to change soon. Blockchain technology will make Meta and Twitter obsolete because centralized platforms will never be able to offer what blockchain-based decentralized platforms can.
When people think about privacy, security, and ownership, they have to look into blockchain-based platforms. Web 3.0 is the next thing. And everything is moving in that direction. We are still in the early stage. It is time to explore, understand and own your content.
So what do you think? Please feel free to leave your comments. Thank you for reading this post. That's it for now. I'll be back with another post.
I think web 3 is much better than web 2, but it is still in the early stage and needs some improvements too.
