Disagreement happens. And why should not? The world would be too boring if we all have the same opinion, right? But that doesn't mean we have to disrespect others.
I wouldn't say, you have to accept all the opinions. Because I know how hard it is. But at least you can step ahead a little bit and show respect!
It's easy to stereotype someone, pass judgemental comments, give a tag to someone or say something bad. But it takes guts to agree. Or you don't have to agree at all but hold yourself from passing negativity.
I'm not here to advise you about anything because I believe we all are adults and well known about how we should respond. But it sometimes makes me feel really uncomfortable and somewhat frustrated actually to see people do this very often. Like if you talk about a certain thing and if someone has a different opinion he/she wouldn't choose to be polite and show respect at all; most of the time.
That's why learning this art is essential!
We don't have to be untrue to our opinion if we choose to show respect to other's opinions. Isn't it normal for all of us to see the world from a different perspective? We can gently remind others that we have a different point of view so they can consider seeing things differently.
But we choose to be blind!
You may wonder, why I'm saying this?
Well, there's something nasty happening in my country, something about politics and people put themselves in a blame game. What made me more frustrated to see is people don't have any respect for others' opinions. Yeah, I know it's hard to accept but at least we can hold ourselves back from disrespecting; what do you think?
And not just that, in our personal life too. We can't hold back from criticizing others badly, we forget that we can do it objectively without any personal attack. Remembering the boundary of what should we do and not is definitely an ART!
Can we reconsider learning this?
Having different opinions is accepted in a democracy. But, the current tech world is not impartial to views. There is hardly any freedom of speech in the mainstream world, which is ruled by the mainstream news media, social media giants supported by the ruling governments.
