I wish our school system would teach more about mind, soul, and spirituality. Look at our education system! Everything is related to business, economy, and other bookish studies. Even at home, we teach our kids, actively or passively, to fit in the consumeristic world. I'm not saying those studies are less important. But only focusing on them brings a huge gap in understanding what matters most in life.
I don't know much about what's going on in your country. But here, we have a religious book course in every class. I don't believe that one book is enough to teach about what I'm talking about. Also, those books usually cover talking about the great man of different religions, religious verses, etc. The gap is not narrowing down in this way rather students take that book just like any other course.
You may wonder thinking why I'm bringing all this?
I think if we make it possible to clear to everyone from a very early age about what matters most in life, their life choices would be easy.
As a parent myself, I feel the gap in our system. Yes, in our days our family, the whole society could teach us the value, more about mindfulness and everything. But we all know how social structure has changed, value systems also get changed. Now, even if we want our kids to understand that they need to prioritize their minds over anything, they may never get what we are talking about.
People say the education system, family, or society can't teach us this until we understand it by making mistakes. I agree. But who knows, it can be too late for anyone. Also, it's true if the society would be more mindful, would prefer peaceful life over wealth then maybe the scenario would be a little better.
"Our mind shapes who we are".
We don't teach, never tell our kids nor believe this. We get taught building wealth, establishing a social position is everything in life. Don't we? And we are passing the same value to the next generation.
That's when it's necessary to take action so we could know and teach the value of real happiness, more about mind, soul, and spirituality.
I don't know if I managed to say what I intended to say. I hope you will get the right message.
