Basically Malesung's belief has several purposes, namely to regulate harmonious relationship between humans and Almighty God, rules the relationship which is in harmony between human beings, regulates harmonious relationship between humans and the natural surroundings, fostering good behavior virtuous, orderly behavior, formation mental and spiritual, provide peace physically and mentally, as well as creating perfection of life in this world and in the hereafter.
There are noble teachings passed down by the ancestors of Malesung who appear on the expression tumou tou which means live as people live.
That matter stated in the slogan of Sulawesi ProvinceNorth is Si Tou Timou Tumou Tou. By literally means people who live in effect like humans.
This shows that the duty of every Minahasa person is to try your best to be able help others so that they can live physically and spiritually. In other words, the Minahasans must be able to be a blessing to other people.
The basis of Malesung's belief is one of them ancestral mandate known as The first mandate of Pinabentengan is "Sapake si" kayoba'ang anio' tana' ta imbaya. Breast milk makasa, sa me'em si ma'api, wetengen eng kayoba'ang. Wetengan e patu'usan. Maper e waraney. Tumani' e kumeter. Aka'd se tu'us tumou wo tumou tow."
