Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Danny Lim passed away last Wednesday. He was tested positive with the coronavirus and died of cardiac arrest. But his symptoms were only mild. MalacaƱang Palace and Edison "Bong" Nebrija condoles to their colleague.
Danilo "Danny" Lim served in the Armed Forces of the Philippines retained the rank of Brigadier General, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Makatarungan (translation to just, fair, or rightful) Class of 1978, a West Point graduate, and member of the 1st Scout Ranger Regiment.
In 1989, he led the failed coup d'etat against former President Corazon Aquino, he was detained for 2 years and granted amnesty by former President Fidel V. Ramos.
In 2007, he led another mutiny against former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Along with Antonio Trillanes IV, Capt. Nicanor Faeldon and the rest of the Magdalo officials walked out of their trial due to their failed attempts on the Oakwood Mutiny of 2003 and marched through the streets of Makati. Again, Danny was detained from 2006 to 2010 and the government filed charges of rebellion and attempted coup d'etat until he was given temporary freedom by the Armed Forces of the Philippines on May 31, 2010.
From his career in politics, he decided to run as a Senator but failed and he was appointed Bureau of Customs Deputy Commissioner by former President Benigno Aquino III but left his post in 2013 due to alleged corruption in the bureau. In 2017, he was appointed Chairman of the MMDA by President Rodrigo Duterte.
