One night, a man came to our house and said: "There is a family with eight children who have been hungry for several days." When I heard this, I prepared food to take the family. When I saw the children, the picture of hunger on their faces was noticeable. There is no trace of sadness or grief but extreme hunger. I gave the rice to the mother. It divided the food into two, then left the house. When she got back I asked her: "Where did you go?" Her answer was simple: "To the neighbors, they have not eaten yet." I was not surprised that she gave because I knew the poor were very kind. I wondered why she found out that her neighbor was hungry. Usually when we have a problem or someone is suffering, it is only here that we focus our attention, we lose time for others. Mother Teresa, Chicken soup for the Womans Soul, p. 55 Jack Canefield.
No one can touch the contents of the human heart, only God. Because God created man, he was endowed with a good will as a sign of his love for man. The value of love makes one feel cared for. And to say that you really care about others, you do not pay too much attention to your own welfare. If a person sympathizes with his neighbor because he has died or been hurt, it can be said that it is an expression of mercy or sympathy. Empathy, on the other hand, is a deeper look at what others are experiencing or feeling. It means listening carefully, asking questions without judgment. He puts himself in the position of the person in need of support and understanding. Any kind of positive response is a human trait that faith is shown in action. "My neighbor, my love", is one of the principles that can be applied to the exercise of responsibility that should be given to others. It is not enough to just know the neighbor's problem, more you can give if you want. Help is not always a material thing, maybe a little time to talk is important to the person in need or patience.
Even in St. Paul's letter to the Galatians, he emphasizes that being a spiritual person is born of the Spirit, made a guide to life is a spirit "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, honesty, gentleness and self-control. The spirit gives us life so it should also rule our lives. Let us not be arrogant, quarrelsome and envious. " (Gal. 5:16. 22-26)
Another instruction from St. Paul that will clarify man's responsibility to others: "If anyone falls into sin, you are guided by the Spirit to correct him. Do it calmly ... and be careful, lest you the tempter. Work together to bear the burden. "
(Gal. 6: 1-5)
The person with a vibrant spiritual life has a strong faith, hope and love for God that is shown, felt and shared with others. It can be seen in his moral action, behavior and application of the doctrine learned in the Bible and in the Church.
In the book by John F. Kavanaugh, Still following Christ in a consumer society, he mentions that what exists in the world today is competition, not compassion: As children they are instilled in their hearts and minds to fight and lead in any field to be different to all. Encouraged to make own name, compare with others. Mercy is for the losers, so do not lose.
From Micah 6: 8, spiritual balance is expressed. This is what the Lord wants: "Be just in all things, continue to love your neighbor and humbly obey your God."
This is such an amazing humanitarian story! 👍
