Floppy Disk or Diskette
Those of you who already understand computers in 2000s will know name of this thing. We Indonesians call it a diskette or in English it is called a floppy disk, is a computer device that is used as a storage medium.
Diskettes have removable properties, which means a storage medium that is easy to remove or reinstall. Floppy disks or floppy disks are widely used to copy information, incoming data or outgoing data in a computer system. Currently, diskettes are no longer used because currently all computers use external and internal hard drives.
Diskette is shaped like a magnetic disc with a very small capacity of approximately 1.44 MB. This is reason floppy disks were abandoned because of their limited capacity and when compared to today's era, one floppy disk will not be able to store one file.
Before creation of storage media such as large capacity hard drives, floppy disks were very popular. Maybe it was popular before 2000s, because I first used diskettes when I was in junior high school in 2000s.
In one floppy disk is usually used to store one to three documents in pdf format. Diskettes are known as very thin and flexible magnetic storage media. Usually floppy disks are packaged in a plastic square.
However, in 2010 floppy disks were rarely produced and were replaced by USB flash drives. Diskette has a function as data storage with a very small capacity, because it only has a capacity of 1.44 MB
Data stored on this floppy disk can be accessed to another computer with aim of reading data on disk which can then be accessed. Advantage of floppy disks can be easily removed from computer, so they can be used for software distribution purposes, data transfer from one computer to another or storing backup files from hard disk.
Maybe millennial generation has not encountered using floppy disks, but there is nothing wrong with knowing which data storage tools have triumphed before 2000s era.
Thank you for reading till end, hopefully it can add to your insight.
