Peace is something we all care about, but now were lacking or don't have peace. the question is how can we help? to sustain, we must work on it and it requires everybody's cooperation.
We as professionals, we can make peace around us today. Peace is something we all can show to our friends, to our families and to strangers too.
When we say peace education- its a process of acquiring values, knowledge and developing attitude, skills and behaviors to live in harmony with self, others and with the environment.
The purpose of peace education are the elimination of social injustice, the rejection of violence and the abolition of war. We have to learn to establish peaceful self, good relationship with others and the environment. I've learned peace of education way back when i was studying college and it was my favorite subject too. Peace education has a schema for us to attain our goals towards social justice and system, we have to focus on the development of KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUTE/VALUES and SKILLS.
PEACE EDUCATION SCHEMA
KNOWLEDGE development includes Holistic concept for peace , conflict and violence causes, some peaceful alternatives, disarmament, transformation, prevention, development based on justice, sustainable development and human rights.
ATTITUDES/ VALUES development includes self-respect, respect for others, gender equality, Respect for life, compassion, global concern, ecological concern, cooperation, openness and tolerance, justice, social responsibility and positive vision
SKILLS development includes reflection, critical thinking, decision making, imagination, communication, conflict resolution, empathy and group building.
In this world we are constantly living in changes, happiness and distress, positiveness and negativeness. its a kaleidoscope world. different colors different meanings and happenings. Therefore to have any kind of peace of mind we must train ourselves to be tolerant of these actualities.
We was educate to learn how to avoid conflict and misunderstood our society. Have you ever asked yourself what will happen if all of us were not educated and doesn't know what is peace? Our world will be in chaos and war.
We must value life, human rights and together lets create a peaceful world.
