A sanitation system is a safe way of collecting, disposing, and treating human and animal waste (feces and urine) and other wastes, such as garbage and hazardous industrial waste. This system is designed to create and maintain the environment, be it soil, water, or air, to keep it clean and hygienic. With a clean environment, your body will become healthier.

Then, what does this have to do with good sanitation and physical health Exposure to human waste can be through several routes such as soil, water, and air. Human feces itself contains many organisms, such as bacteria, protozoa, worms, or viruses, which can be the cause of various diseases. If you dispose of feces properly, you can avoid exposure to these organisms.

As a result, you can also avoid disease attacks and prevent its spread, especially with regard to water, sanitation, and hygiene. One of the diseases that you can prevent with a good sanitation system is diarrhea. Diarrhea is one of the most common diseases caused by poor sanitation, and is a major cause of child mortality in Indonesia. Apart from preventing diarrhea, implementing a good sanitation system also brings several other benefits.

In other words, adopting a good way of disposing of garbage, waste, and dirt can help create a better life for you and your family. Implementing a sanitation system generally starts with making facilities for safe urination and defecation.

Dirt and waste water from toilets goes into shelters, such as septic tanks to excreta trucks. Then it enters the centralized collection system through a special fecal pipe provided and treated there. Nearly 25 million people in Indonesia do not use the toilet to defecate. They still defecate in fields, bushes, forests, ditches, roads, rivers, or other open spaces due to limited facilities and lack of knowledge about them. This is what causes exposure to dirt so that the spread of disease is still common.
