In December 2020, One.Surgery successfully launched a Flipstarter to create the world's first cryptocurrency powered scientific journal (https://flipstarter.one.surgery) - with a unique, industry-disrupting publishing model. We are pleased to announce we remain firmly on track to launch the exclusive BCH powered journal in 2021. We have now started to develop a world class editorial board, with eminent and prominent surgical and non-surgical leaders from all over the world already joining the board (including BCH's very own EmergentReasons). A new post updating the research journal project will be written on read.cash in the coming week explaining our progress and development timeline.
As part of our research roadmap, (and our overall global health BCH adoption strategy), One.Surgery now hopes to launch a global surgery awards program. The community awards program is designed to recognise excellence in the field of global surgery, with awards given out in both digital and non-digital prizes. Once again, we believe One Surgery is the first to adopt innovative use-cases of BCH technology - as we hope to not only distribute BCH awards but also offer unique One Surgery NFT prize tokens created with SLP - that certify and authenticate each prize winner on the blockchain in a memorable, collectible way.

What are the One.Surgery community awards?
There is a dire and urgent need to scale up surgical care around the world. Every day, millions of people across the world are unable to access or afford essential, life saving surgical procedures. Thankfully, in every country, in every community, are heroes dedicating their lives – in multiple disciplines, and in different ways, to tackle this problem together. The One.Surgery community awards aims to acknowledge these contributions by asking the community to award excellence in this field of global surgery.
How will the awards be decided?
Award winners will be nominated by, and voted for by the global surgery community. Although the precise terms and conditions have yet to be established, the principle of these awards will always be that it is community supported and voted for.
What are the possible award categories?
1. Research
We aim to develop monthly and annual awards for the best research contribution to the global surgery sphere – voted for by the global surgery community.
2. Advocacy and contributors
An award to the best contributors to the One Surgery platform, starting with the best writers in the Voices of One Surgery publication.
3. Heart of Gold
Celebrating the unsung heroes on the front line of global surgical care – not just clinicians, but all relevant stakeholders, from hospital staff, to carers, industry and supporting services. We aim to nominate and award these heroes with BCH and NFT prizes.
What are the awards?
1. Non-fungible tokens of certification
Award winners will receive official certification of their award, in PDF format, as well as an exclusive token on the Bitcoin Cash network, identifying the recipient as the owner of these one-of-a-kind awards.
2. Merchandise
With our amazing One.Surgery shop and merchandise (https://shop.one.surgery), we hope award winners may win an exclusive T-shirt or artwork from our stores.
3. Bitcoin Cash
With the kindness of our sponsors, we hope to distribute an award to include a nominal amount of Bitcoin Cash, to say thank you, as well as help to develop our cryptocurrency ecosystem - which will further benefit our research journal and other BCH project uptake.
Seeking BCH sponsorship and perks
We would truly welcome BCH sponsors and partners to help fund these awards. For each prize category annually, we would seek 1 BCH to give out over the year. For example, in 2021, we would like to give out 1 BCH of prizes to researchers,1 BCH to advocats / writers, and 1 BCH to heroes within the field.
Therefore, we are seeking 3 BCH to give out in multiple small awards throughout 2021. All our funds will have 100% of BCH given in prizes across the world, One.Surgery seeks no admin fees or cut in any of this fund - it will all go to new BCH users across the world.
What are the perks to sponsor these awards?
1.Increase Bitcoin Cash exposure and adoption - by sponsoring these awards, BCH branding will further spread throughout the global health community.
2. Distribution of BCH to crypto naive users across the world - The global surgery community is diverse, with limited cryptocurrency adoption. By giving small BCH awards to new users, it allows further uptake of BCH tech in new wallets.
3. Unique NFT token creation - for award winners and sponsors: One.Surgery will be creating unique SLP tokens for each award distributed - with sponsors having their own unique NFT token too as part of the collection. We believe we are one of the first organisations once more to utilise NFT technology to link with global awards - this will truly be an opportunity for being part of SLP history.

In summary
One Surgery is hoping to partner with BCH sponsors to provide 3 BCH over the course of this one year, where all BCH funds will be distributed across the world as prizes to amazing global surgery researchers, advocats, volunteers and workers.
