It's back to back win for Leicester after they won Southampton with two goals courtesy of James Maddison and Harvey Barnes.
Southampton started brightly when Adams broke through in the 16th minute and tried to get something out of his effort but all he could get was a corner. Southampton started and continued to pill up the pressure on Leicester City.
In the 19th minute, Barnes sweetly struck a shot in the box but Mcarthy was up to it. Vardy did brilliantly by leaving the ball for Barnes as Barnes was in a better position. Not long after, Walcott got into the box but released a pass instead of shooting himself but he had that pass blocked.
It was an end to end game with brilliant attacks but nothing came from them. Adams struck from a tight angle in the 23rd minute but Schmeichel saved brilliantly. Adams has been impressive on the night but Schmeichel has been equal to it too. Southampton played impressively in the opening stages.
Maddison who was making his 150th appearance for Leicester City fired above when he was at the edge of the box in the 28th minute but he wasn't to miss this chance again in the 37th minute after Vardy miskicked in the box. Maddison received an inch-perfect pass from Tielemans and he fired into the roof of the goal from an impossible angle. It was a tight spot but he did brilliantly well to get the ball past the goalkeeper.
In the 41st minute, Bertrand got behind and took a shot but the ever-impressive Schmeichel saved yet again and 2 minutes after, Barnes tried to find the corner of the post with a delightful curling effort but it went agonizingly wide.
The second half started and Southampton did all they can and Smallbone tried to find the right corner with a wonderful effort but Schmeichel punched the effort away. Southampton was also lucky not to have Diallo sent off for a second yellow when he grabbed Maddison.
Leicester did all they could to add a second when Barnes tried to find the head of Vardy but he couldn't quite nod it well as the ball came a bit behind. Leicester controlled the second half up till the 65th minute.
In the 67th minute, Vardy tried to catch Mcarthy unaware when he noticed he stepped away from his lines. It was an audacious effort and they kind that would get all the applause if he pulled it off. Leicester wasted many chances and couldn't kill the game and Vardy was one major culprit.
Leicester got their first corner of the game with 20 minutes to go but nothing came out of it.
In the 73rd minute, Southampton woke up and broke through. Armstrong unleashed a thunderbolt that rattled the crossbar. They also thought they had a penalty with the rebound tussle but it was ruled for an offside. That effort from Armstrong would have settled Southampton a bit if it has gone it but the crossbar came to the rescue.
Just 2 minutes after, Southampton almost orchestrated their own downfall when they failed to clear and Barnes nodded into the empty net only to be cleared off.
Ayoze Perez came in for Maddison in the 77th minute and he has a history of scoring against Southampton. He has gotten 2 hat tricks in England and they both came against the Saints.
Ward Prowse couldn't connect well with a chance he had due to the impending strong tackle he sensed coming. It would have been a brilliant effort to draw his side level. Perez produced a moment of magic when he lost two of his markers and he dashed through only to give a brilliant cross for Vardy who produced a tamed effort that was easily blocked.
Vardy missed another chance in the 85th minute after Justin played him in. He did everything right this time my cutting inside to lose his attacker but Mcarthy saved for a corner kick.
Vardy had 7 shots without scoring which is the most by any player in the Premier League for not scoring.
Tielemans found Barnes in the 95th minute after they broke through, leading Barnes to go one on one with the goalkeeper. He slotted home easily to make it 2 goals and move into second place pending when other teams would play. It's game over for Southampton who did everything but couldn't get anything out of the game.
