Tottenham got their job done when they took on Sheffield United. Ramsdale was the architect of saves and destruction for his team on the day. He almost gifted Tottenham the early lead but Tottenham got their goal in the 5th minute when Son's brilliant freekick found Aurier who had a simple header go in. This goal settled Tottenham and put them in control but we know how Tottenham struggles to hang on to leads but they did well on the day.
Sheffield United woke up and Burke drove in but he was blocked for a corner kick. They had another chance with a header from the corner kick but it didn't threaten much and it was cleared.
Son broke through from the left-hand side in the 13th minute, hoping to cross to Harry Kane for an easy tap in but it was blocked for a corner before it got to Kane, by Ampadu.
Tottenham should have extended the lead when a loose ball was played across the box but no one could connect to it. McGoldrick had a brilliant chance too but was blocked off by Eric Dier. Sheffield United looking more dangerous on the counter-attack.
In the 37th minute, Son's brilliant ball in caused trouble for Sheffield United defence line and Kane almost nodded home but was denied by the goalkeeper but Kane wasn't to be denied for long as he scored a brilliant effort that can take only a genius to score even though the goalkeeper should have done better.
Sheffield United lost the ball in the middle and Hojbjerg found Harry Kane, he drove in between players and unleashed a lovely ball that found the back of the net. That was 2-0 for the day. Job almost done. That was Harry's 207 goals for Tottenham and he is just one short of going join second in Tottenham's all-time goalscorer list.
Sheffield United tried to get back into the game with a series of flashes but nothing came out of it. Ramsdale has not been up to the task today as he has made few mistakes that led to the goals but he did save some too that could have made it worse. As a goalkeeper, he has now conceded 8 goals from outside the box and that is the most by any goalkeeper in the league.
The second half started and Stevens, who scored on his Premier League debut rose higher to a cross only to head over. He had another shot in the 48th minute, just a minute after the last one but his effort was blocked. Sheffield had a brilliant build-up to that effort.
Kane had an ambitious effort in the 49th minute when he shot from afar, hoping to get the better of the unpredictable goalkeeper but it was expertly saved for a corner kick. In the 52nd minute, Ramsdale fumbled again from Son's charge.
Kane broke through and found Bergwijn in the 56th minute. He crossed but it was cleared only for it to find Kane again but he fired his effort far and above.
Sheffield United caused trouble for Tottenham and the effort paid off in the 59th minute when McGoldrick was picked out by Fleck's ball in and boom, he headed home to make it 2-1 and there was renewed hope for Sheffield who thought they can snatch a draw with Tottenham's struggles to hold on to a lead.
Straight from kick-off, Tottenham charged and raced into Sheffield United's territory. Son was picked out but the attempt to reach him was blocked. Tottenham sensed what Sheffield was trying to do and wanted to increase their two-goal advantage. They got their advantage back when Sheffield United lost the ball again and Ndombele scored with a brilliant lob goal to make it 3-1. That was a relief for Tottenham and any hope for a comeback dashed.
Bale sat there on the bench and you would begin to wonder why Tottenham got him back on loan if they wouldn't use him. He can help them get some goals at least or penetrate defence with his pace but it remains to be seen what is happening with him behind the scenes.
