Having the Beginner’s Luck Forever | The Law of Attraction

Introduction

I am sure many of you have heard about the proverbial “beginner’s luck” statement. Although it sounds like a positive statement, a closer look gives us a different impression. More often than not, a beginner’s luck is a compliment given to someone by someone who believes that the luck will run out. Read that again. The one giving the compliment believes that the person got lucky this time. It is more of an envious statement than a compliment.

One thing is sure. The one complimented for the beginner’s luck has defied all odds and achieved something that others had believed to be tough to achieve. So, they expect that this achievement may not be prolonged but rather an aberration that would soon go back to every other person’s achievement level. And here starts the pathetic idea that everybody should fall back to others' achievement level and cannot have a sustained high level of achievement. This fallacy has been ingrained in us so much that we tend to look at high performers as an aberration and believe that they will fall back to others’ levels. 

The question is – why should we believe this age-old thought process? Why can’t we turn beginner’s luck to be an ongoing and forever principle? Is it possible?

Let’s find out.

Beginner’s Luck and the Law of Attraction

Now, let’s take a few seconds to understand the Law Of Attraction (LoA). The principle behind the LoA is that we attract things that we constantly think about. Like attracts like. This thought process is consistent with the teachings of holy books like the Bible. For example, the following adage:

As a man thinketh, so is he.

Therefore, we achieve or become what we believe we can achieve or become. This is where the person with beginner’s luck overlaps with that of the principles of the LoA. Let’s understand this part with an example.

You have joined a multi-national corporation (MNC) and given the job of business generation from a key account. While you are there, you go ahead with a lot of gung-ho about getting the business. The others who work on the same account barely notice you. So, you are unaware of their thoughts or believes about the account. You do what is necessary and land a big deal from that organization. You become an instant hit and famous within the organization. 

This is what happened. However, this is how the others reacted.

The past masters on the account congratulate you and tell you how difficult it is to win a deal in that account. They further tell you that a so-and-so person is difficult to deal with. He is not a very good person, and hence winning a deal is not normal. Then they attribute everything that you achieved to beginner’s luck. They, further tell you that all their beliefs are the right ones, and sooner-or-later, you will also find it difficult to get business out of the account. 

Do you see that? Isn’t that how people force their own biases about situations, circumstances, and people on you and tell you why it is difficult to get by. They further expect you to accept their perceptions and live life as per their perception. Not only that, all that you have achieved is frowned upon, and to negate your way of working, they call it beginner’s luck. Isn’t that the case? You would agree with me.

Here is where the problem is. If you go back to believing in your own way, you are free of others' biases. However, if you choose to be colored by others’ preferences, you will believe what they believe. More often than not, the latter is what happens to most. Very few have the former way of thinking, and that is why very few make it to the top of any stream of life. See my point?

Also, the ones who do not accept being colored by others’ perceptions also keep the “beginner’s luck” alive forever. Let’s look at that.

Beginner’s Luck Forever!

To understand this part, let’s go back to how you started going about winning the deal. You thought that the deal is something you can get because your organization had the capability. You further believed that you could do it as a person because you had done it multiple times before. There was only trust in the process, trust in yourself, and you only envisaged winning the deal. All of these traits had to attract to you what you believed. So, the deal came through in line with the teachings of the LoA.

Notice that being a newbie, others did not cast their doubt or worry, or apprehensions about the account. So, you were free to believe in winning the deal. But once the others knew about your deal closure, they home in on you to tell you how difficult things are in that particular account. Now you have a choice.

You can choose to overlook their views and biases. After all, they are not you. Isn’t that the reason why the organization hired you in the first place? If you can overlook their views, you continue being the winner you were and are. Because of that, you continue to stay in the beginner’s luck mode. So, your luck begins but never ends. How cool is that?

And because you stick to your own believes and winnings ways, you continue winning. Others will be envious, but you have to ignore them. That’s your mantra! 

Have the Beginner’s Luck and Own It Forever!

Now you know what to do. Your winning beliefs have to be safeguarded to ensure that you continue winning. Believe in what makes you a winner and ignore the noise around. That will ensure that you become and stay the best that you can be!

So, remember this and continue winning forever!
