An expectation before or after a celebration

Every family has their own beliefs, may it be superstitious or real. I bet you also have. Whenever there's an occasion, whether it's a happy or sad occasion, we always have something we believe on.

Let's say during wake funerals, here in the Philippines, we do have lots of superstitious belief. They say you can't take the food outside the wake place, you can't clean the yard, you can't take a bath, you should change your clothes after going to a wake, the widow can't go outside for at least a month, and many more. These are just some of it. But apart from this, we do have our own beliefs that may only exist on 1/10 in a family.

Well in our family, as time goes by, we realized one thing - if someone is going to celebrate his/her birthday, someone in our family will die. For the past years, we’ve noticed that when there’s an upcoming birthday, someone will die before or after. It’s been the topic in our group chat last night.

Translation: we always have someone who will die, if it's not on

Translation:

My Uncle Noel died on June 8, my sister's birthday is on June 7.

My Uncle Sue died on August 12, my niece birthday is on August 15.

My Uncle Bob died on January 15, my sister's birthday is on January 15.

Our grandmother died September 4, my cousin's birthday is on September 5.

There's still have more. That's why, when someone is already sick in our family, we are afraid when someone is having a birthday, because it may be the sign of another family member's death. When you already have an expectation but still gets disappointed at the end.
