Abdul Wahhab, the brother of Ibn Kathir, moved to Damascus with his family in 606 AH. Ibn Kathir's comment about him, "He was our brother and very affectionate towards us." He witnessed the Tatars' attacks, multiple famines, and heartbreaking disasters. Then the famine killed millions of people. He also saw the Crusades with the Firingis. The establishment of small kingdoms, conflicts among the rulers, etc. took place before him. Nevertheless, in this age there is a strong urge to excel in education and science. Due to the interest of Amir-Umaras and generous donations to scholars and educational institutions, many educational institutions and a large number of books were written and compiled.

Died: He passed away on Thursday 27th Sha'ban in the year 64 AH. A large number of people gathered at his janaza. According to his will, he was buried near Shaykhul Islam Taqi Uddin Ibn Taymiyyah in the graveyard of Sufis, his last abode. Which is located in the vicinity of Bab an-Nasr in Damascus.

(3) His teachers

Ibn Kathir (ra) was endowed with keen intellect. He memorized the Quran before he turned ten years old. On the occasion of the death of Shaykh Nuruddin Ali Ibn Ibn Nuhija Quraqi Shawbaki Dimashki Shafi'i (died 430 AH), Ibn Katheer (ra) wrote, ‘He was our classmate in Quran memorization and book study. I finished the Qur'an in 611 AH. '(47)

He was educated by hundreds of Shaykhs. However, the number of those whom he influenced and whom he followed was very small. Among them Shaykh Taqi Uddin Ibn Taymiyyah is the foremost. Because Ibn Katheer (ra) had a close relationship with him. Ibn Kathir used to follow his opinion and issue fatwas according to his opinion in the month of divorce. In this regard, he was in danger and suffered. We know this from the information written by Ibn Kathir in Al-Bidaya wan Nihaya. This information is mentioned in the description of the great events of the first half of the 8th century AH.

In historiography, he was influenced by the Syrian historian Qasim ibn Muhammad Birzali (d. 639 AH). Qasim Ibn Muhammad's History Book which is an appendix to the History Book of Shaykh Shihabuddin Abu Shama Makdesi. In Ibn Kathir's history, the effect of the above text can be noticed.

He was influenced by Shaykh Miyazi Yusuf Ibn Abdur Rahman Jamaluddin in Hadith Shastra (died 644 AH). He was a recognized and famous muhaddith throughout Egypt at that time. He wrote the book 'Tahsibul Kamal'. Ibn Katheer (ra) studied most of the books of Shaykh Miyayi with him. Ibn Kathir became so close to the Shaykh that he married Zaynab, the Shaykh's daughter. He learned a great deal about Hadith and the biographies of the rabbis from Shaykh Miyazi. (46)

Some more teachers of Ibn Kathir (ra)

(1) Mr. Izuddin Abu Ya'la, Hamza Ibn Muayiduddin Abul Ma'ali, Asa'ad Ibn Izzuddin Abu Ghalib Muzaffar Ibn Asir At Tamimi Damascus. Ibn al-Kalansi (d. 629 AH). He was a muhaddith. He also had leadership qualities. He got the ministry in the year 610 AH. (50)

(2) Ibrahim Ibn Abdur Rahman Ghazari. Ibn Kathir (may Allah be pleased with him) was initiated into the Shafi'i school and studied Sahih Muslim and other books of Hadith with him. (51)

(3) Nazmuddin Ibn al-Asqalani (ra). In 9 Majlis Ibn Kathir studied Sahih Muslim with him.

(4) Shihabuddin Alhijar alias Ibn Shahna. He studied about 500 booklets of Hadith in Ashrafia Darul Hadith. He died in 630 AH. His name was Ahmad Ibn Abu Talib.

(5) Kamal-ud-din Ibn Kashi Shahbah read Mukhtasar, a book on usul written by Ibn Hajib.

(6) Shaykh Nazmuddin Musa Ibn Ali Ibn Muhammad Jili Damascus. He was a brilliant scholar and writer. He was well known as Ibn al-Basis. He was considered a master of calligraphy and a local expert. He died in the year 617 AH.

(6) Shaykh Hafiz and historian Shamsuddin Zahabi Muhammad Ibn Ahmad Qaymaz - he also learned from him. He died in the year 646 AH.

(6) Nazmuddin Musa Ibn Ali Ibn Muhammad, he was both a Shaykh and a poet of high quality. He died in 618 AH.

(9) Qasim Ibn Asakir, Ibn Shiryai, Ishaq Asadi, Abu Musa Qurafi and Abul Fatah Dabusi gave him permission from Egypt.
