03-14-2022 LOG 2: Let’s talk about forgiveness When asking forgiveness, it leads to having the feeling of understanding and compassion for those whom you’ve hurt, likewise to forgiving. “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ Asking forgiveness is like being honest to yourself and to others. “My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. “Forgiveness does not mean that we do not mind what others did you wrong nor to forget it is about understanding and freeing yourself from misery, hatred, and vengeance. Forgiveness gives us freedom and it makes us humane. The story of The Parable Son taught me and also helped me see that forgiveness is easy. Forgiveness brings peace of mind and heart. “But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.” The importance of forgiveness enables our heart to be free from anguish and hatred, and asking for forgiveness helps us to be free from guilt. Both give us freedom and peace. What the Father did in the story is that he’d rather be happy that his son is alive rather than resent him for being away, not knowing where he had been. He used his heart, and as a father, his love for his son never left. Although when we forgive and ask for forgiveness, it is not possible for some relationships to bring it back, but it is the product of a merciful or forgiving heart.
