Embutido is a Filipino style meatloaf shaped like a log that is either steamed and bake until thoroughly cooked. It is oftentimes pan-fried to add color to the outer skin before finally being served into slices. Much like lumpia, it is often served at Filipino parties and gatherings but most especially on Christmas Eve or Noche Buena.
Ingredients
1 kg. ground pork
¼ cup red onion, chopped
1 cup carrot, chopped
½ cup celery, chopped
¼ cup pickle relish
½ cup raisin
1/3 cup red/ green bell pepper, chopped
½ cup all purpose flour
2 pcs. egg, beaten
2-3 tbsp Knorr Liquid Seasoning
ground black pepper
3 pcs. hardboiled eggs
cling wrap and aluminum foil for wrapping
Step 1
Embutido is one of the easiest dishes that can be prepared in an instant. All you need to do is to combine all the ingredients, except the hard boiled egg, in a bowl and mix them well.
Step 2
To make the embutido roll, prepare a wrap using cling film and aluminium foil and cut them into 4. Divide the ground mixture into 4 equal portions and set these on top of the cling film. For each portion, slightly spread the mixture, placing the hard-boiled egg in the middle then roll and fold both ends of the cling film. Wrap it again with aluminium foil to tighten the embutido roll.
Step 3
See how simple embutido is. Now, place them in a steamer and cook for 30-40 minutes or until it is firm.
Stel 4
The most versatile dishes are the simplest to do. They happen to be very delicious too. Whether it’s hot or cold, and served with your favourite condiment, this is one of the best comfort dishes of all time.
