Why so downcast,oh my soul?

Last Sunday we celebrated the Holy Trinity Sunday.(God The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit)

Let's talk about the role of the Holy Spirit in our life as the Creator Spirit amidst this pandemic that we are currently facing right now.

Fr. Raniero Cantalamesa, author of Calm Creator Spirit, qoute that

"The spirit is always the one that brings about the change from chaos to cosmos, from disorder to order, from confusion to harmony, from deformity to beauty, from oldness to newness."

It can also be simplified as:

1. CONDUCTOR

In the orchestra or choir. If you notice or if you have watch an orchestra it is consist of 20-30 musician with different instrument. Or in a choir that also consist of 20-30 singers put up in one stage. They are so many but they create a good harmony in their singing and their instruments. It's because or the conductor whom will instruct the mucisians or the singers . Just by the flick of the conductors stick the assigned one will do it's part for the rest of the performance.If you noticed all of them don't look on anyone except the conductor, their focus will only be with the one guiding them.

We can also apply these in our personal life especially parents.Sometimes, our mind were full of many thoughts especially during this present situation. We were sorrounded by chaos, may it be political, war on different countries, even in social media we can see people arguing on comment sections, fighting over useless matters most of the time.But if we listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit on what is it's role in our life for sure we can live a more peaceful life. So there's no reason to be so downcast because we have a conductor in our life which is the Holy Spirit.

2.SURGEON

Surgeons brings beauty from deformity.

Some people with tumors, cancers, or any unnecessary that can grow in our bodies, it can damage or deform the form in our bodies.

Example would be this woman with a goiter or tumor in her neck part, it is deformed as or not normal whereas if it operated with a surgeon she can become normal with no deformity on her physical appearance.

And what are these tumor or cancer cells in our soul? These are our sins. Sins can damage and wreck our insides. Imagine if you got a cut or bruise and you left it un attended notice that it will grow worst and amputate. In order for it not to go into worst, you need to removed the unneccesary. Remember "We are created in the image and likeness of God" So we are beautifully created. In order to maintain the beauty in our soul, let's be near to God alll the time. Avoid chances on commiting sins. And the greatest surgeon of our souls is the Holy Spirit or the Creator Spirit.

Why so downcast Oh my soul? Put your heart in God who is the greatest surgeon, the restorer, the one whom can bring the deformity into beauty.

3. CHEF

Good chefs know how to cook on what is ingredients available or given.And they know how to preserve so that none would be wasted.

Most parents specially mothers at home can also be called chefs in their own right. Right moms? Heheh.. Mostly the mothers are the one holding the family expenses so they are doing their best that none also would be wasted especially foods ans other essentials in the house. The Creator Spirits in them works in them at the kitchen in preparing food.

If have leftover food or rice instead, chef mom's can make it fried rice or rice soup or champurado,any convenient that the family will enjoy eating so no food will be wasted.Overiped fruits can be converted into fruit shakes or ice candies or jams. In short, being creative of making use of what we have. The learnings we get as Creative Spirit of a chef is that we can make use of some leftovers.

We can translate the creative spirit of a chef in our spiritual lives. Even if we are continually adapting in the online world, most people are still busy. Some would say that they are way more busier now that they go online. So how can we be creative in our spiritual life?

For example in our scripture time or the Bible reading. We are encouraged always to read at least four chapters a day so that by the end of the year we have completely read the whole Bible. And one creative way in achieveing it is you read one chapter the moment you wake up during your prayer time or before breakfast,during breaktime in the morning you read one chapter, one chapter in afternoon break and one chapter before you go to bed.

"We can not live be bread alone, but by the word of God."

Same as we give food to our bodies we should also give food to our souls.

In praying the rosary, we can also do it in our waiting time, or on travel. Personally before pandemic I always pray the rosary in the bus because I have a lot of time, imagine trasporting for mostly two hours from home to work, I had a lot of time.

The point is, let's not waste on what is given to us. With that, less stress, less anxiety, and less worry.

Submitting ourselves to the Creator Spirit for us to be creative like the CONDUCTOR that can unite people, SURGEON that can bring beauty from deformity, and CHEF who brings newness to staleness.

"This Creator Spirit is not for ourselves only but for us to be an instrument to make a change on the face of the Earth through you, me and all of."

Be reminded of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, be taught and be empowered for you are gifted to give.

Psalm 104:30 says

"Send forth your Spirit and thou shalt renew the face of the earth"

So if all people are ready and able to face these challenge to be filled with the Creator Spirit for the change of the face of the world, we can no longer ask these ourselves,

"Why are you so downcast, Oh my soul?

rather,

Put you hope in God, the Creator Spirit.
