In these present times more stories are not printed instead they are posted through websites or social media platforms. Because the modern generation prefer the convenience rather than the old habits. Like carrying a book anywhere or during a long travel. Putting bookmarks on the last chapter you last read. Highlighting the best part using different colors of highlighter. And finally writing your plot base on the book you've read.
I consider myself a reader or listener rather than a writer. I love reading all kind of genres. I also am a fan of some podcast telling stories about life and people. I read even a very thin booklet I found in my home.
I started being interested in reading books at a young age. The textbooks in grade schools compose mainly of short stories where you can learn values and moral just by reading and analyzing the stories. During first grade in elementary, the teacher often read us the stories and asks us anything related to the stories after. As a kid, i often imagine or picture out what happen just by listening to my teacher narrating the stories to us.
From the kids to the elders o how they interact, I picture it all on my mind. Specifically, I am more attentive when the teacher is telling us the stories in order not to miss any key points. I became fascinated in books when I read the book Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi which was published in the year 1883. An old classic book telling the story of a Puppet who became a real young boy because his maker, which he treats as a father, wished him to become a real human being.
After reading that I also became fascinated in cartoon story books..From fairytales to magical to mysteries to horrors. I love reading it because also of the drawings...
Entering High School or Secondary Academics, I came to encounter the very first story which I will never forget for the rest of my life. I even memorized the whole story and read it like a hundred times when I was in high school. It is the story about "The Hare in the Moon". I really love the story, on how one sacrifices itself for others.
Then nest comes"Troy" whom I get to know all the Gods and Goddess of the Greek Mythology.Since then, I keep reading books and I became a regular visitor and borrower in our school's library and then I became a junior librarian.
When I enter college the first room that I did visit during our orientation is the library and woahhhhhh their library is very big and full of books. The best part is there are more history books unlike our library in my past school. There are also all kinds of novels written by most famous people in the novel world. When we do research task for our projects I easily can tell which book we will use for the given subject I mostly read that's why. College days for me are tiring and I seldom go to our library because I need to balance my time but book is life so I always carry one so that I can read if I have a little spare time for myself.
You see, books are not just pile of paper bonded into thick one just to be a decoration or just to be kept in the library , it should be read and understand its context. Books are important for they hold every meaning and synthesis you need in life. Although the millennial nowadays prefer to surf or read online, I prefer reading a book. The gesture of flipping every page and feeling the paper in your hands, the bold texture of words being typed just for the reader to see it clearer, from putting bookmarks, etc. I prefer all of those than using mobile book reader because it will only hurt my eye more than reading an actual book.
The first book that I purchased with my own money was the book " The Alchemist" by Paolo Coelho. Year 2014. It's very valuable to me because it was the first time i get to hold my first ever purchased book..although little but it's very precious to me. By then until now I keep buying books as a gift to myself. I even put some of it in my work area. I even made a mini library at home near the prayer room. So when the squad wants to read they can always go there and spare time reading.
Do you love to read books too? Do you own any particular book?
It's hard to encounter bookworms nowadays because of internet. They preferred it more than books.
