Had a bowl of Vietnamese vermicelli noodles with fried pork slices for lunch. It usually comes with a bowl of sweet sour chilli garlic sauce to toss with the dry noodles. I like it that its light, contains fresh vege, Vietnamese spring roll (which has very nice fillings), and some peanut crunch on it.
This is considered quite a decent meal (nice taste) at a food court for me, though price is at a slight higher end - RM13. Or maybe this is the new norm price nowadays. ๐
Nevertheless, I'll give thanks cause i can still choose what I like to eat within my means. :)
My mum has been buying some nice buns for breakfast lately. I find the bread very light, soft and nice, which I like. And most importantly, I don't feel bloated after one bun. So i went to check out this bakery.
This small bakery called My Bakers House and it is located at a little corner in a food court. As i chatted with one of the baker, i found out these 2 young ladies like baking, hence they started this small business not long ago. She also shared their challenges of being a baker and entrepreneur. They find it difficult to set the price as they happened to start this business when the ingredients price went up. Hitching on Grab or Food Panda platforms doesn't really help them much as those platforms take around 40% commission. They feel bad yet have no choice but to increase the price on digital platforms. She said if can, just visit us here at the bakery. Its cheaper. ๐
They come to the stall as early as 5am in the morning, start baking and selling all sorts of bread and cakes till 8pm at night. Price range for each bun is around RM 1+ to 4+. Quite affordable i would say. ๐
My favourite bun so far is their ham cheese bun. Actually I just wanna drop by and tell them.. "I like your buns. It's very nice." :)
She was grateful and looked very happy. ๐ป
These colourful art pieces caught my attention while I was walking in the shopping mall. It was illustrating and introducing different types of Raya cookies!
Among the cookies in the pics, I've tried London chocolate almond cookie, cornflake cookie, and pineapple tart. Pineapple tart is one of my sought after cookies during Chinese New Year. ๐๐
Put aside the food aspect, I actually enjoy looking at these watercolour art pieces. So amazing to see people express their imagination in drawing and painting. What a beautiful artwork! ๐จ
Sin Kiew Yee Shin Kee Beef Noodles ๆฐไนๅฆๆฐ่ฎฐ็่็ฒ - I've heard many good reviews about the food of this place. It's finally my turn to be there! ๐
I ordered a set of dry Hakka noodles, with Beef slices + Beef balls in soup. So yummy! The noodles were topped with a generous amount of minced beef and dark soy sauce mixture. Very savoury and packed with flavours! One mouthful in, and you'll want more! ๐
Meanwhile, the clear beef soup has a sweet and light beefy flavour, which I like! The beef balls are bouncy and I also particularly love the tender raw beef slices. So soft. I love everything in the soup! The ingredients are not overpowering each other. But together, they make a really good, down-to-earth and yummylicious meal.
How can I miss this after they've opened for almost a century here?! ๐ฑ(The shop has been around since the 1930s). I will definitely come again! This has officially been added to my favourite food list. ๐
I was craving muah-chee the other day and manage to get it at one of the stalls in Petaling Street named "ChinaTown Machi POPO"! Yay! ๐
Muah-Chee is the Chinese version of 'mochi'. It is a glutinous rice snack coated with peanuts and sugar. Me and my friend ordered the original and black sesame flavour. So yummy and chewyyyy! Om nom nom ๐
During our KL downtown trip last Saturday, we passed by this megatall skyscraper named The Merdeka 118. It is 678.9m tall, has 118 stories, and is currently the world's second-tallest building.
This tower consists of residential, hotel and commercial spaces. It is expected to be completed in 2024 or 2025.
Interesting fact: The tower design was made to resemble and inspired by Malaysia's 1st prime minister - Tunku Abdul Rahman's outstretched hand gesture while chanting "Merdeka! (Independence!)", when he proclaimed the independence of Malaysia on 31 August 1957.

Our 3rd stop in KL downtown, we dropped by a place nearby called Petaling Street. It has a transparent roof built above us, which helps to protect us from the sun a little. The red lanterns there does make me feel like Chinese New Year is coming soon! ๐
Petaling street is like a flea market with many vendors selling various goods and foods. This is also a street famous for counterfeit branded goods at a very cheap rates. From watches, bags, clothes and electronic items. Besides that, they are also selling some local delicacies such as muah chee, roast duck, noodles, porridge and more.
Continuing from our KL downtown trip yesterday, our 2nd stop was at a mural street nearby called Concubine Lane @ Kwai Chai Hong ้ฌผไปๅทท .
It has beautiful murals on the age-worn wall, coupled with some original wooden/metal structures and furniture to amplify the story with the murals on the wall. These small little details/elements elevate the retro, rustic, vintage feel of the whole place. Its like an urban reinterpretation of the KL Chinatown back in the day.
Supposed to go for KL Forest Eco Park this morning, but it was closed due to public holiday. :/ So me and my friend changed plan and decided to tour KL downtown instead.
Our 1st stop, which is right beside the park, the KL Tower! It is a 15-story, 421-meter-tall telecommunication tower in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is the world's 7th tallest tower and also Malaysia and Southeast Asia's tallest tower.
Today, I would like to share one of my favourite Mandarin classic songs with you.
It's a song that I've heard since I was a kid.
It's an oldie that my parents love to listen to.
Pretty sure it's a well-known classic song among Mandarin song listeners too.
It'sใๆๅชๅจไนไฝ ใ "I Only Care About You" by ้ไธฝๅ Teresa Teng. :)
Although she has passed on many years back, I believe she is still a superstar to many today. She is truly a classic beauty and voice that never fades.
This is a song that I've covered a while ago. Enjoy :)

Another bingsu (Korean shaved iced dessert) we ordered the other day was Blueberry Cheesecake Bingsu. I believe this is very eye-catching and appealing to sweet toothers! ๐
It has mild sweetened milk-flavoured shaved ice as the base, then covered with blueberry syrup as the sweetener and toppings e.g. bite sizes of cheesecake, blueberry, and vanilla ice cream. Those who love cheesecake and blueberry should give this a try at Hanbing Korean Dessert Cafe! ๐
Outlets in Malaysia: SS15 Courtyard, Nu Sentral Mall, IOI City Mall, KL East Mall.
It was a hot sunny day and we decided to go for a cold dessert!
Bingsu is a traditional cold dessert in Korea and is very popular, especially during summer. It is made from fine shaved iced, covered with sweeteners such as milk, condensed milk, chocolate etc. Topping ingredients may vary from red bean, injeolmi, fresh fruits, ice cream etc.
This is the most traditional and popular flavour in Korea - Injeomi Bingsu.
Injeolmi is a famous Korean rice cake that's soft, chewy, nutty and mildly sweet. (Yup, that two little pieces on top that you saw in the picture). The taste and texture are similar to Japanese Mochi or Chinese muah chee.
This is actually my first time trying and hearing about this flavour. One mouthful in, I instantly LOVE IT! Cause it LESS LESS LESS SWEET! โค๏ธ
The brown powder you saw on the outer layer is the roasted soybean powder. It has a mild fragrance of soybean/earthly taste. They also added pieces of almond flakes to add the crunch.
Meanwhile, the shaved ice is perfectly fine and has a super mild sweetness from either the milk/condensed milk, which is a perfect combo with the soybean powder. Both flavours complement each other very well.
Will definitely order this again the next time I go! ๐
Helped my friend @trieors to shift her office stuff from ground floor to 1st floor on Sunday. It was a great workout! ๐ And i get an ice cream as a reward! Yay! ๐ฅณ
Finally get to try Nestle's Musang King ice-cream as introduced by @Durian. Indeed very strong durian taste. But of course, the real durian is still the best! Hehe ๐
Visited my university for a short while earlier today. Such a nostalgic moment. The coconut tress, the walkway, the brown-white buildings.... i remember walking / running between classes cause the classrooms are so far apart. ๐ Haha so much memories.
Tomorrow will be a full fledged physical classes ever since Covid hit. Bless all the lectures and students here to have a smooth transition! ๐๐ผ
Went to Jombali restaurant for lunch with a group of friends after church today. Ordered a plate of Nasi Goreng Belacan Ayam Berempah (a.k.a Shrimp Paste Fried Rice with Malay Spiced Fried Chicken) for RM17.90 (+-USD 4).
The fried rice is super flavorful due to the shrimp paste (which i like) and also a little spicy. Meanwhile, the fried chicken is freshly fried and has a very nice fragrance of the spices (which I also like). It is also served with a small portion of picked vegetables at the side. But one thing I have to say... the rice portion is too big! I couldn't finish it! ๐
Nevertheless, it was a satisfying lunch, given the taste, portion, and price point ๐๐ผ๐.
Treat myself some handmade choc! Love18C is a Malaysian brand that sells premium artisanal handmade Belgian choc. Tried this choc few years back and love the dark choc series very much.
Unfortunately, this brand will temporary cease until further notice soon. So sad. :/ Since they are running a promo of RM18 (+-USD 4) per box now, hence I bought 3 flavors this round: 70% dark choc, 80% dark choc, and cappuccino choc. Wanted to try Hojicha Choc, but sold out.
My review, 70% dark choc still the best for me. The sweetness and bitterness ratio is well-proportionated. 80% dark choc is ok too, but a little acidic (sour). Meanwhile, cappuccino choc is... not my kinda choc. Probably due to the caramel or milk taste. ๐
Had teatime and dinner at a cafe called Luckee Canteen yesterday.
My friend ordered Potato Croquettes as teatime snack. I had Spaghetti Thai Basil Pesto with Grilled chicken for dinner. Overall its a nice meal, though the grilled chicken is a little over burnt ๐. Meanwhile, my friend had Spaghetti Pork Bolognese and coffee, which was also not too bad.
Quite a low-key cafe at this side of the town :)
Had a yummy egg mayo sandwich this morning but forgot to take photo ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ๐. So I replace it with a coloring pic i did recently. Such a cute breakfast food pic right? ๐
I find it quite therapeutic to do colouring. Didn't have a physical colouring book, so I did it digitally. Forgot how long i spent to complete this, probably 15-20 mins or so. Though its a guided colouring, but I enjoyed the process of coloring every blank space and eventually completing the whole pic! โค
Good morning everyone ๐ป
Today le mum chef is in a good mood to try out new recipe for dinner - salted egg air-fried chicken with oats + my all time favourite stir fry spinach with anchovies. Perfect combo with a bowl of steamed rice. ๐
Always a blessing to have homemade meals. My tummy and soul is full. ๐
It's been a while since my family dine-out and we've discovered a new dinner place at a nearby food court.
It's a Chinese cooking style stall (a.k.a as dai-chao ๅคง็), where it cooks various dishes of meat and vegetables, and served alongside with a bowl of steamed rice.
We ordered Chilli Salted Fried Tofu, Salted Egg Butter Pork Ribs King, Plum Caramel Chicken and Stir Fry Royal Chives with Bean Sprouts.
All tasted very flavorful with reasonable price. Definitely won't be our last time here. ๐
This stall has a pretty unique name - ๅๅพๆฏ็ฆ. It derives from a Chinese saying where it means "It is a blessing to feed yourself with food".
Simple happiness is giving direction to an anxious foreigner and making sure she gets down at the correct destination, eventhough we sat separately in the train thereafter. :) ๐ป
Baked chicken for dinner tonight! To be exact, baked drumsticks ๐๐. With vegetables like potatoes, capsicum, carrots too. ๐ Thanks to le mum chef ๐ฉโ๐ณ
A cup of coffee I captured the other day during a lunch session with a friend.
Cafe's coffee these days comes with nice coffee / latte art. It looks beautiful to appreciate as a piece of art and it also looks nice as a cup of drink. Can't resist to take a photo of it. :)
But in actual, I'm more of a tea / water person, cause coffee makes me runs to the toilet. ๐
This is a Durian Mille Crepe Cake I bought for my dad's birthday last Friday.
Durian is one fruit that can "awake" my entire taste bud and body each time I have it. ๐ Cause durian has a pungent smell and taste. It's either you like or hate it. I don't usually crave it, but I do like to eat it when I have the chance to.
This cake tasted so divinely goooood cause it has real durian flesh in the middle of the crepe layers. ๐
It doubles my happiness when I see my dad enjoyed the cake too. โค
What a rare sight. I have not sat in a train for almost a decade.
Hello, Petronas Twin Towers. ๐๐ผ๐
While listening to sermon in church last Sunday, this sight caught my attention.
Look at how secure and restful the baby is,
Fully falling into his dad's arm and embrace.
As if there's nothing to worry about tomorrow.
Even when the storm rages or earth shakes,
The dad is there to shield and protect.
May we learn to be childlike again.
To surrender and rest in Him at all times.
2 Chronicles 20:15
This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid! Donโt be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but Godโs.
Had a scrumptious lunch on our last day in Ipoh 2 weeks back.
We headed to a restaurant called Ipoh Lucky Restaurant and had a few of their popular dishes such as chinese yam noodles with abalone and fish maws, roasted pork, steamed chicken, and handmade fishballs.
Blessed to have had a boss who is a foodie and always treats friends/employees to good meals. :)
Helped my friend @happycrazycon to purchase a box of colourful macarons for her son's birthday party last weekend! ๐ฅณ
According to Google, macaron is originated from french and is a sweet meringue-based confection made with egg white, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond meal, and food colouring.
Though I'm not a fan of macaron, but it looks so petite, cute and colourful โค
Had a big bowl of pesto pasta last Sat! It has a few of my favourite ingredients e.g. broccoli, chicken and mushrooms. Nutritious and delicious ๐. It tasted extra good because it's homemade by a friend of mine @trieors๐.
Had a classic Thai green curry chicken for lunch yesterday!
It has a generous portion of diced aubergine and chicken slices as the main ingredient, while the gravy is the highlight and soul of this dish! So flavorful! Sweet + savoury + mild spicy. Perfect combo with a bowl of rice + fried egg! ๐
Bravo to the chef who created the recipe for this excellent gravy! ๐๐ผ
