Ever since @costanza made a post about Quest Potions, I was intrigued by this. I wasn't aware of these potions and that purchasing them provides 5 extra loot chests when completing your daily quests. Naturally, I jumped in and decided to run a 7-day experiment. I realized we are in a terrific bull run of late with splinterlands, but the results more than exceeded my expectations.
The Initial Costs
I bought 7 Quest Potions using credits that I had made from referrals. This set me back $4.83 (a discounted $0.69 per Quest Potion - it pays to be part of an active guild).
7 Days of Quests Tracking
Over the next 7 days, I tracked the rewards received from completing daily quests, the DEC price according to coingecko, and the number of chests.
Not bad for a week of playing splinterlands! But the question remains, how do I know if the Quest Potions returned a profit or not?
Calculating the Quest Potions Return
What I decided on was to determine the USD value per loot chest. This can be easily calculated by taking the total USD value of the loot chests and dividing it by the number of loot chests received that day. For each day, we can calculate the value of the 5 additional loot chests received from the Quest Potion.
Based on the above calculations, after the 7-day experiment, the Quest Potions generated $17.26 worth of rewards. That’s a 357% ROI ($17.26 / $4.83)!
Conclusion
There's so much to still learn about splinterlands, and this was a fun experiment that turned about to be very profitable. After the experiment, I immediately purchased 100 (+15 free potions) Quest Potions for my main and alt accounts, costing $138. You might as well let the good times flow while it lasts for splinterlands!
