Since its launch on March 20th 2020, when Hive was hard-forked from Steem, it's been growing and evolving every day.
What is Hive?
Hive is a social media blogging platform (ala Reddit), which was developed and founded on the core principle of decentralization. Hive had no ICO and no pre-mine period.
Hive blockchain eliminates the centralisation and unbalanced control structures that have plagued the Steem blockchain over the last four years. The biggest gaming dApp, Splinterlands, moved to Hive and this has seen huge adoption in the platform.
The Decentralized Hive Fund (DHF) will support the creation of the hive network and its ecosystem. The hive social network will allow users to publish and distribute the stored content in a decentralized way. It will allow people to communicate online and express an opinion that no third party can censor or regulate.
A free platform like that is more important than ever in these precarious times for our world. Our freedom of speech is being increasingly restricted by centralized sites like Facebook. The hive network aims to allow people to connect, collaborate and exchange content in a genuinely decentralized and free way. Hive will reward its content creators, curators and developers to facilitate the growth of the network.
Will Hive be the first social media platform that is fully decentralized?
Yes, I firmly believe in the principles it's laid out to be a decentralized social media network which will provide a decentralized platform for all its users.
Thank you for learning with me and hope you have a good rest of the day!
