I recently watched a film called Crypto (2019). Its a thriller about cryptocurrency, starring Kurt Russell and Luke Hemsworth.
It deals with terms mostly used by the general media to speak with an opposing point of view about cryptos; corruption, fraud, ransom, conspiracy, and in this case, it also talks about the Russian mafia laundering money and violent murders through a U.S. subsidiary.
As I said, this is a work of fiction, and it is easy to understand why, through the lens of fraud, the directors chose to speak about cryptos. It is much more cinematic than staging a transaction that goes well between two ETH addresses at the moment!
However, while this dark aspect of cryptos was chosen to be discussed, there are still some good points for the adoption of cryptos in general.
I especially liked the 12-word sentence shown on the screen and indicated as the key to the crypto wallet, which is the subject of the suspenseful film. This is yet another step towards a general understanding of how private keys function.
Admittedly, the acting of the actors would not win them an Oscar, and the supporting roles are often more credibly portrayed than those of the stars of the film. But let's not forget that the more people think about crypto as a real currency, the more embedded it becomes in their minds.
At the release of the movie, the price of Bitcoin in the film is US$7,500.
Thank you for reading and hope you have a good rest of the day!
