So I have been playing Splinterlands for a while now but I couldn't really get on with the upper ranks since I still have no conviction whatsoever to burn real money to invest into it.
Yep, you still need to invest additional money into Splinterlands to enable yourself to climb up the ladders of the ranks and battle it out with the upper echelon. That of course is not a problem if you are extremely lucky, and I say extremely lucky with the drops the loot chests give.
I now play it from time to time, just enough to be eligible for the basic rewards. My mindset was so far removed from the first days that I have been playing it. Before, I was really excited to get those 5 daily wins needed to claim the daily chest reward. But now, I am not so thrilled about it anymore.
You see, for the rewards, you can get a card, a potion that you can use when summoning a card, or some DEC directly. Some rewards are so-so, some are good and most are so 'meh'. In my starting days, there was a time that I pulled out a 2000 DEC and I was really excited about that, with that time's exchange rate of DEC, I have already earned my initial investment of $10. So I was really happy.
But the rewards I get daily today, are so negligible. They don't really matter, in my opinion. I get cards with no practical use and so common that they just cost 10 DEC to burn. And if I pull DEC they just amount to 4-10 DEC.
I think you get what I mean, for doing the daily quests, you get junk most of the time. This wasn't a problem back then because I get a lot of junk before than I do now, what do I mean?
Well here's the thing that I am most annoyed at recently, back then we can buy a potion that adds 5 chests to the daily rewards. So if you bought that potion, and you fulfill the daily requirement of 5 wins following the requirement of the battles, you will not only receive one loot chest but you will get 6 loot chests. It does not matter if you get junk because you will get more junk and I think that's pretty okay for a potion that costs around 75 cents.
The potion is still available though, but the cost of it is not justified. Before, it costs only 75 cents, but now it's 750 DEC, depending on the rate of DEC it's roughly around more than $5. That's too much!
As per the developers, they made it that way because they say that the use of that potion has been abused. Well, that's reasonable enough in my opinion. If it's for the betterment of the game and the prolonged gameplay, there's nothing to argue about it. But I still personally find it really ludicrous to buy that potion now at that price and get a few more trash not even worth half of the potion's cost.
But of course, you can still buy and use that potion, if you can afford it, by all means, do so. 5 more chests will always still be better than just 1. I just couldn't bring myself to risk that money because I know my luck, I know it all too well. I have never once won anything good from raffles or draws, not in real life nor in games. Not once.
Well if you don't believe me, here's what I got from last season's rewards :
I think that there's another update I missed that is now adding to my little annoyance about the game. You can see here that I had only received a total of 7 chests for the season rewards. That is well and good but I was promised 9 chests. I had a pending 9 chests because I reached Bronze 1 for the season and I was also eligible to go to silver rank but I chose not to.
The season rewards before this season depend on the highest rank you were able to reach during the duration of the season. In my case, it was Bronze 1 which should have given me 9 loot chests. But at the end of the season, I was only ranked bronze II which gives out 7 chests. So going by that logic, the season rewards now are based on the rank you finish and not the rank you were able to reach.
What gets me a bit frustrated is that I rented cards just to be able to reach bronze 1. And it cost me a bit of money to do so. These rewards are nowhere near the costs of the cards I rented. I just felt robbed.
Well, that's just it. A little rant from a frustrated newbie. See you next season.
Hi hi hi!
How are you today? Fine, I hope. Thank you for joining me in this one and sticking through it even though it's just me ranting about a game I'm really not good at. Well, at the very least I'm earning a bit of coin while annoying myself.
What about you? What keeps you occupied nowadays? Let me in on that fun! I want in!
Again, I really appreciate you being here, and as always ...
Cheers!!!
