Sofia, a 22-year-old social communication student, was doing her internships at a prestigious local radio station. Excited by the opportunity to put her journalistic skills into practice, Sofia worked hard every day to prove her worth and learn from the experienced professionals around her.

That day, while walking the streets near the station, Sofia witnessed an accident that immediately caught her attention. A motorcyclist at high speed had rammed a young cyclist who was calmly passing along the road. Sofia, without hesitation, took out her recorder and approached the scene, ready to gather all the possible information to prepare a detailed report.

At the entrance of a nearby cafe, Sofia found Camila, a young employee who had witnessed the incident. Sofia approached her with a smile and asked:

- Hi, sorry for the interruption. I'm Sofia, an intern at the radio station. Could you tell me what you saw? I would like to have your testimony for my report.

Camila, a little surprised by the sudden question, nodded her head and began to relate what had happened.

- Well, I was here, at the entrance of the cafeteria, when suddenly I heard a loud bang. I looked down the street and saw how a speeding motorcyclist crashed into a young man who was riding a bicycle. It was really shocking, I thought the cyclist wasn't going to tell.

Sofia nodded attentively while Camila spoke, recording every detail on her tape recorder.

- Did you get to see anything else? Did you manage to identify the motorcyclist or the cyclist?

- I could see that the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, but I couldn't make out his face. As for the cyclist, I could see that he was a young man, but I couldn't tell you more details. He was lying on the ground, he seemed to be injured.

- I understand. Did you notice anything else that might be relevant to my report?

- Well, what caught my attention the most was that the motorcyclist did not stop to assist the cyclist. He just continued on his way at full speed, as if nothing had happened.

Sofia nodded gravely, aware of the gravity of the situation. He thanked Camila for her testimony and went to the scene of the accident, where he could observe the remains of the bicycle and some witnesses who had come to the aid of the young cyclist.

After collecting more statements and taking some photographs, Sofia felt ready to return to the station and present her report. I was convinced that this would be an excellent material for a report that would impact the audience.

Upon arriving at the station, Sofia quickly went to the office of her boss, the news director, to share her finding. With enthusiasm, he handed her the report and the recordings, hoping that his work would be well received.

However, to his surprise, the director reviewed him with a disapproving expression on his face. After a few minutes, he looked up and told Sofia:

- Sofia, this report is insufficient. I need more details, more statements, more information. I can't air this in its current state.

Sofia felt bewildered. He had worked hard to gather all the relevant information and believed that his report was sound.

- But, sir, I have interviewed several witnesses and collected important data about the accident. I thought this material would be enough for a good report.

The director looked at her seriously and replied:

- I understand your enthusiasm, Sofia, but in this business it is not enough to have good intentions. We need an impeccable work, with all the possible details and perspectives. I want you to go back to the scene of the accident and gather more information. Bring me something more elaborate and important.

Sofia felt disappointed and frustrated. He had hoped that his effort would be recognized, but instead he received severe criticism. However, she knew that she had to prove her worth and not give up.

- I understand, sir. I will return to the scene and get more information to improve the report.

With those words, Sofia left the office, feeling a knot in her stomach. As she walked back to the accident site, she couldn't help but feel that her boss had been too hard on her. After all, it was his first great opportunity to demonstrate his journalistic skills.

Back at the scene of the accident, Sofia struggled to gather more information and statements. He interviewed the motorcyclist, who admitted to speeding, and the injured cyclist, who related the facts calmly and in detail.

He also spoke to some passers-by who had witnessed the incident. Each testimony provided him with new elements that allowed him to build a more complete and solid report.

While working, Sofia couldn't stop thinking about her boss's reaction. She knew he was a demanding professional, but the harshness of his words had hurt her. However, he refused to be overcome by frustration.

"I'm going to show him that I can do an excellent job," she said to herself, determined to overcome this challenge.

After several hours of hard work, Sofia was satisfied with the collected material. She returned to the station, ready to present her revised report.

Arriving at the station, Sofia headed back to the office of her boss, the news director. With confidence, he handed her the report and the recordings, hoping that this time his work would be well received.

The director carefully reviewed the material, nodding from time to time. Finally, he looked up and said to Sofia:

- Excellent work, Sofia. This report is much more complete and detailed. I think we have some great material to air on the next newscast.

Sofia felt a surge of relief and pride. His effort had paid off, and his boss had recognized the quality of his work.

- I'm glad you liked it, sir. I worked hard to collect all the relevant information.

- Well done, Sofia. I am impressed by your dedication and perseverance. Keep it up and you will have a great future in this profession.

Sofia smiled, feeling more motivated than ever. Just as he was about to retire, his boss's phone rang. He took the call and his expression changed drastically. Sofia watched him uneasily, wondering what could have happened.

When the director hung up the phone, his face reflected a mixture of frustration and concern.

- Sofia, I'm sorry to tell you this, but we won't be able to broadcast your report on the news today.

- What? But why? - Sofia couldn't believe what she was hearing.

- I just got a call from the mayor's office. Apparently, the motorcyclist involved in the accident is an influential politician, and his team has exerted pressure to prevent coverage of this incident.

Sofia felt the world coming at her. After all your effort, would your report be censored for political interests?

- But, sir, that can't be. We have a responsibility to inform people about what really happened. How can they do this?

- I know, Sofia, I know. Believe me, I feel as frustrated as you do. But in this business, sometimes we are forced to make difficult decisions. I can't risk the stability of the station for a single report.

Sofia was outraged. She had believed that working in a media meant defending the truth and transparency, but now she was faced with the harsh reality of manipulation and censorship.

- Sir, I can't accept this. You taught me that journalism is a noble profession, that it should be at the service of the people. How can he give in to these political pressures?

The director looked at her with regret and replied:

- I understand your frustration, Sofia. Believe me, I don't like having to make this decision either. But sometimes, we have to choose between maintaining our convictions or preserving the stability of the station. And in this case, unfortunately, I cannot risk everything for a single report.

Sofia was devastated. He had believed that his boss shared his ideals, but now he saw that the reality of the journalistic business was much more complex and full of commitments.

Not knowing what else to say, Sofia left the office, feeling that her heart was filled with disappointment and disenchantment.

While walking back to her house, Sofia couldn't stop thinking about what happened. She felt betrayed and deceived. He had believed that journalism was a noble profession, where truth and justice were the fundamental pillars, but now he was faced with the harsh reality of corruption and manipulation.

"How can they do this?", he would ask himself over and over again. "How can they put political interests before the responsibility of informing people?"

Sofia felt helpless and frustrated. He had worked so hard to prove his worth, only to see his report censored by outside pressures.

While walking, Sofia stopped at a small square. She sat down on a bench and let the tears roll down her cheeks. I needed to process everything that had happened, to make sense of this situation.

After a while, Sofia looked up and wiped away her tears. Inside, something had changed. She no longer felt defeated, but rather determined.

"I can't stand idly by," she said to herself. "If this media is not willing to stand up for the truth, then I will have to find another place where I can do it."

With that resolution in mind, Sofia stood up and headed home. He had to make a momentous decision that would change the course of his career.

Days later, Sofia showed up at the office of her boss, the news director. Firmly, he communicated his decision to her.

- Sir, I've made a decision. I am resigning from my internship at this station.

The director looked at her with surprise and concern.

- What? Are you sure what you're doing, Sofia? I thought this was your dream, your chance to stand out in journalism.

- It was, sir. But after what happened with the accident report, I've realized that this is not the place for me.

- Sofia, I understand your frustration, but you must understand that sometimes in this business we have to make difficult decisions. I can't risk the stability of the station for a single report.

- That's precisely the reason I'm leaving, sir. I cannot accept that the stability of the station is put before the responsibility of reporting truthfully and transparently. Journalism should be at the service of the people, not of political interests.

The director looked at her with a mixture of respect and regret.

- I understand your position, Sofia. I'm sorry it's come to this point, but I respect your decision. I hope you find a place where you can practice the journalism you believe in.

- It will be so, sir. Thank you for the opportunity you gave me. But now I must go my own way.

With those words, Sofia said goodbye and left the station, feeling a weight less on her shoulders. She knew that the road ahead would not be easy, but she was determined to find a media outlet that shared her ideals and her commitment to the truth.

As she walked, Sofia felt more determined than ever. He had learned a valuable lesson about the challenges and pressures faced by journalists, but he had also reaffirmed his determination to fight corruption and information manipulation.

"I'm going to find my place," she said to herself. "I'm going to find a medium that values integrity and transparency above all else."

With that conviction in mind, Sofia embarked on a new adventure, ready to forge her own path in the world of journalism.
